Just give Anne Hathaway all the Oscars...

So I saw Les Miserables.

And you know, I didn't cry as much as I was expecting to. From the reports of people I know who've seen it, I was expecting to be a miserable snivelling wreck. I mean, I cry at movies. I'm notorious for it. I'm the friend you take to the cinema who ends up wailing into your shoulder. And seeing Les Miserables in the ( Read more... )

My friend and I went to see the movie together and afterwards my statement was, "Anne Hathaway owned that bitch!" Lol... she deserves every award she's up for (let's just hope her acceptance speeches are better than the Golden Globes one). I teared up to "I Dreamed a Dream," but she really mad me bawl during the last song.

I agree about Russell Crowe, I thought he sucked. Not only his voice, but his portrayal of the character. He was so flat and monotone for such an emotional character. Even his death scene had no feeling to it whatsoever.

I thought Hugh Jackman was great, his voice didn't bother me. Amanda's was annoying especially knowing that she can sing well since I really liked her in Mamma Mia.

I *just* saw Les Mis at the cinema today.

Anne Hathaway was definitely my favourite as far as pure vocals go. Enjoyed Eddie Redmayne also.

Didn't really like Cosette's vocals, but then, high soprano's make my ears hurt...probably why I usually avoid operas.

Overall I enjoyed it. I'd never seen it before (movie or play) and I've never read the book.

I got misty eyed just seeing Colm tbh. And I cried the entire last hour save for two or three songs.

Amanda sounded like a bird, it was a bit weird. But tbh I didn't mind any of the voices. I think Hugh would have made a better Javert than Valjean tho.

AARON TVEIT. ...that was basically most of what I got out of the movie (I looooved it, but I still agree with most of your singing points). All the barricade boys were perfect because most of them were Broadway/West End peeps. But man, now that I've seen Aaron in other roles, I've realized exactly how much effort he's put into just being Enjolras.
