there's this one particular chinese supermarket in cupertino where my parents would take me every saturday after piano class when i was in middle school. while they shopped, i would invariably be glued to the glass "wall" of the bakery section watching The Cake Lady assemble and decorate various cakes. oh, it was magical. i became such a regular that she started giving me a bag of cake trimmings each time i came by to see her... but then the bakery began actually selling the cake trimmings for $1/bag and she had to stop giving it away lol the bakery section is still there, but some time in the last decade they switched out the glass into an actual wall, so that customers can't watch anymore :(
aw man, that is the best. but why the heck would they cover up the wall :| there is a chocolate shop near here named Grendel's (such a cool name) that has a picture window but as far as I can tell the lady doesn't like to be watched (wtf).
