Jesus, but Jacob is tough love. I mean, I think we all sorta knew that already, but damn.

This was easily one of my favorite episodes. It was just really, really well done. (I'm debating how much of that is the linear thing)

It was great to finally find out what the deal is with Richard. I never thought to connect him to Black Rock. In terms of eternal life, I can see it from his perspective. He basically got told that he is definitely never seeing his wife again and still has a VERY deep-rooted fear in Hell. Since Jacob cannot grant him absolution, he assumed that was still in order.

I like what this episode said about Jacob. You're right, he is kind of an asshole. I think it showed that the side of "good" is not perfect, it has its own flaws. (Like a competition between God and the Devil can turn into a pissing contest)

Lastly, I really like that the fact Hurley is not crazy is greatly solidifying. Obviously no accident that he and Miles became somewhat attached as Hurley seems to have less control over his ability... but it seems more potent than Miles'.

PS. Favorite line of the episode: "Oh this ought to be interesting..." Thank you Ben. Your one line is still awesome.

Ben completely rocked it with awesome for the, like, thirty seconds he was actually on. To the point where that was easily my favoritest non-flashback moment of the entire episode. Michael Emerson is such a phenonemal actor, I can't even.

I think they hinted at the Richard/Black Rock connection earlier, like a couple episodes or something. So that part, at least, didn't really surprise me. (Though I was kinda hoping he'd turn out to be older, actually. Like - really old. Like, 'Check out that statue I built for Pharoh' old.)

It's not that I don't get what Richard was thinking in terms of the whole immortality thing. It's just that I facepalmed anyway when he made the request.

Oh, I've been assuming Hurley is not crazy for a pretty long time now...at least, no more crazy than just about anyone else is connected to this island.

This was a great episode. Probably my favorite so far. Um, and I *might* have been one of the Richard fangirls who didn't pay attention to the plot because OMG THE HOT HISTORICAL SPANISH ATTRACTIVENESS! I wanted to take him home and save him from all the bad things that happened to him. LOL.

I gotta say, while I kind of understood it insofar as where it was coming from, I never really found Richard attractive. And then this episode happened. UHNF. Partially it was the long hair, beard, and period clothing, partially it was how he managed to become more of a woobie in a single episode than everyone else has in six seasons of daddy issues. MY GOD, DOES IT SUCK TO BE RICHARD.
