Seeing as how I know absolutely nothing about physics, and I am bubbling over with questions, I am going to attempt to ask them without making a complete ass out of myself.
Now, as far as string theory goes, I follow ( Only because you described it in a way that I could understand ) but I get lost when you start describing branes, and anti-branes.
I guess my only question is can you describe branes and anti branes a bit more in depth. Then maybe I can follow the rest of your post :)
Think of a 2-D Brane as a peice of paper, or a drum-head. It's the space that most strings (the closed strings) live on. (Open strings like the ones that give rise to Gravitons live in the space off the Brane.)
The term 'brane' comes from 'membrane' if that helps.
Okay, so here is where I am going to attempt to NOT make a ass out of myself.
Here is what you said:
"Further, imagine the universe we're on is a sort of multi-dimensional string, called a Brane. Then you can stack other branes around and have them collide with each other. You can also have anti-branes. Some strings can leave a brane and go to other branes (i.e. Gravitons)."
--Trying to word the question the right way--
Can you give me a mental image, I guess ... I'm trying to sit here and picture this in my head, and I am having trouble.

Okay. Horrible at math here. So forgive me now if I totally f**k this up. And I don't know how to write it all fancy like you did, so, you know. Just bear with me.
10 (500) --10 to the 500 power? Or am I ... I suxx000rz at math...
And can you describe that one more in depth...
And no, I am not asking you to do this, because I think it is sexy.

I don't know enough Topology to explain why there are only so many configurations of a Calabi-Yau, but you can see from that picture how there are holes and the holes have pieces of space running through them. It the way those holes are arranged that define the configuration of the space.

I'll comment again after I read the whole thing :p

But yes, that's 10 to the 500 power.

This is so cool. I am actually understanding a little bit about physics. I never EVER thought I would understand it.
And for once, in a REALLY REALLY long time, I am not afraid to ask questions.
Just -- Thank you. This post, and the answers to my questions really made my day.
Can't wait to see more :)
Love you bunches,
Stephanie
