Seeing as how I know absolutely nothing about physics, and I am bubbling over with questions, I am going to attempt to ask them without making a complete ass out of myself.

Now, as far as string theory goes, I follow ( Only because you described it in a way that I could understand ) but I get lost when you start describing branes, and anti-branes.

I guess my only question is can you describe branes and anti branes a bit more in depth. Then maybe I can follow the rest of your post :)

Love ya!

Think of a 2-D Brane as a peice of paper, or a drum-head. It's the space that most strings (the closed strings) live on. (Open strings like the ones that give rise to Gravitons live in the space off the Brane.)

The term 'brane' comes from 'membrane' if that helps.

Okay! I follow that now :)

Wow, this stuff is amazing :) Tell me more!

Okay, so here is where I am going to attempt to NOT make a ass out of myself.

Here is what you said:

"Further, imagine the universe we're on is a sort of multi-dimensional string, called a Brane. Then you can stack other branes around and have them collide with each other. You can also have anti-branes. Some strings can leave a brane and go to other branes (i.e. Gravitons)."

--Trying to word the question the right way--

Can you give me a mental image, I guess ... I'm trying to sit here and picture this in my head, and I am having trouble.

Imagine stacks of pancakes flying through some generic 'space'. One stack is normal pancakes. The other is some kind of 'anti'-pancake. When they hit each other they cause the underlying reality (where we live) to expand because of the massive energy release.

Babe, your amazing :)

You know just the right way to describe what you are talking about, and I actually understand it :)

Can we say that the anti-pancake is a biscuit of some sort :)

It's kinda sexy how you talk and describe physics to me, with pancakes and anti pancakes and paper....

But you know, it made me understand it.

Wow...

This is really amazing stuff. I am soaking all of this in, because my mind has been understimulated for a long time.

I'm going to read your post again to see if I can come up with any more questions :)

I'm glad you posted this.

Love,
Stephanie.
