fannish5's question for this week hasn't been posted, but I had last week's answers lying around so...

Five questions you would like to ask authors or creators of source material in your fandom(s).

1. Megan Whalen Turner: Will the next book be called What could I do to ensure the next book is called A Conspiracy of Queens? Or, you know, similar. So long ( Read more... )

re. mafia!Ouran - clearly Amano looked at Hani / Honey and said:

"HE HAS ENOUGH COMPLEXITY TO MAKE ME TWO CHARACTERS! FUUTA & REBORN!"

re. your megan whalen turner wishes: oh, you. ;)

re. megan whalen turner wishes: I've got priorities, what can I say.

Oh God, I love Stephen but when he spoilered the thistle-down gentleman without a second thought, for a moment there I was like, "NOOOOOOOOO." That question is going to haunt me forever now.

I'd second that Future Arc question too. The first half seemed really well planned out, and then somewhere around Choice the whole thing turned to lulz. XD

Especially considering the epic tale of the gentleman hunting down his mother's kiss, and the dress, and the wooden splinter AND THEN STEPHEN JUST... He did have to do it, but still!

The first half seemed really well planned out, and then somewhere around Choice the whole thing turned to lulz. XDI'd say it was from the moment the Real Funeral Wreaths were produced. Suddenly introducing Realer bad guys is a standard shounen move, but Amano generally puts more into her characters than she put into any of them (particularly when it's pretty characters, lets face it ( ... )

That would be cool! If you send a letter, please share what's going in it. But I imagine it would be difficult to get a reply on a question about her editor(s). It would be unprofessional to go into the details of that kind of working relationship, after all.

I TOTALLY AGREE with your Turner question! Though on the other hand, I'd also like to ask - will any of the later books have a female narrator/main character? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. And then security will have to drag me off by the scruff of my neck XD

We could work with that. A question-asking tag team gets set up, and when security drags one member away, another swoops in to ask the questions again! (At which point Turner might start beating people off with a hardcover.)

A female main character would be awesome - QoA had enough Attolia POV to show that Turner can write women. But perhaps she's just someone who finds male POVs more comfortable, or in the limits of the setting, it's easier to write males because they're more likely to be in on the politics. Still, it would be really, really nice to see more female POVs.

I am totally for this tag teaming plan *thumbs up* Now we just have to arrange to be in the same place as Turner... when none of us actually live on the same CONTINENT... XD

Oh yeah, I'd almost forgotten she did some Attolia third person in Queen. Turner's shown she can write excellent ladies in politics pretty well, so I guess... odds are she's just more comfortable writing male narrators? And yet, hope springs eternal. TURNER, YOU WOULD DO A FABULOUS JOB, WE HAVE FAITH IN YOU.

Yes... that slight problem did occur to me. It's time to wish really really hard that we win the lottery. And then plane tickets for everybody!

It really would be great if she did. I hear from Chris that she also did good things with Costis's female relatives, so some part of the spirit must be willing...

everywhere in the khr fandom, whenever someone is asked 'what question would you like to ask Amano-sensei?', that particular editorial conspiracy one always pops up. xD

Personally i always want to ask about her artistic influence and her reasons of being a comic book artist.

I didn't know that other people also wondered! It's good to know I'm not alone in being suspicious. Maybe everyone else also read Bakuman and started wondering how much influence editors had.

It would be really interesting to know about her artistic influences - particularly as her art style changed so much, from really cartoony to a kind of shoujo-shounen mix.
