Recent-ish things. Past month and a bit

- People finally figured out why all the bees were bloody going and dying. Well, sort of. As answers go "It's an illness and a fungus! But we don't know how" is not particularly conclusive.
- My new fandoms that sort-of or don't-really exist. Webcomics are my kryptonite:

that ain't right, that's wrong, invertebrates

Hit up some Chinese folklore books and it looks like you're gold! Or watch Spirited Away over and over?

On the subject of dragons and humans, there's also a Robin McKinley book, Dragonhaven, which covers "what if dragons existed right now within more or less our laws of physics and biology as an endangered species". Also with bonus "mindspeaking with a different species might drive you crazy". I thought it was really interesting, but I know some people found the voice/often painful + gross attention to realistic detail rather off-putting. XD

(Also interesting: I believe Robin McKinley and Peter Dickinson might be married unless I got that wrong)

Wikipedia says they are married! If he contributed to the dragon biology i definitely would love to read those books, but even if he has nothing at all to do with them, the premise sounds fantastic. *turns beady eyes on the library*

I have heard people describe Dragonhaven as McKinley's version of the anti-Eragon XD "A boy living on a nature reserve for dragons finds a baby, has to bring it up. Results: KIND OF TRAUMATISING FOR EVERYONE." Would definitely like to know what you think, if you read it!

I've never read Peter Dickinson, so I have no idea if the dragon biology is anything alike, but it's kind of interesting to think of the creative process they seem to be sharing XD

(Also, dragon on human rape is not that common in Chinese mythology. I'd certainly never heard of it prior to THAT story orz)

That is a relief. Especially in terms of "but if dragons really DID exist ... D: D:"

By the way, HINABN has updated twice in two days. It's surreal. Nobody take bets on how long this lasts.

re. your sis moving: I have no sisters, but I dislike being separated from my siblings, even if they can be deeply annoying at times, so yes: I WOULD MISS THE ANNOYING BS TOO. *EMPATHY*

I saw your cut-text on dragon-human violation and I instantly thought "OH GOD I'M SORRY".

HAHAHAHAHA HARRY POTTER AND THE MIDLIFE CRISIS. I'm fine with more Harry, and not surprised she has more books in her. MONEY, DEAR GIRL.

What? No. I don't believe you. I-I can't! excuse me while I ZOOM TO THE WEBSITE

Thank you for the empathy. I feel like a big goober for moping--but! Sister! *misses*

Nah, don't worry about it. Fandom Wank has done worse to me. XD

Seriously though, what could the books be about besides Harry having a midlife crisis? Auror Adventure Time might not be that bad, actually. On the other subject - what would Rowling do with more money? Literally swim in it like Scrooge McDuck? It does seem like the most likely option, but that's sort of sad. Where is the JOY OF CREATION, damn it.

It would be such a big relief. All the reports on the effects of the hive deaths are so disturbing. I'm really glad they got this far, actually, even if it's not a complete answer.

YAYAYAYAY EMPLOYMENT.

I did warn about the folklore! XD Mythology will surprise you each time. Just when you think that, say, the ancient Greeks have the weirdest stuff, bam, along comes something like this.

I'd probably read the next Potter book too. But it's still rather sad, when she said that she would definitely finish with Harry's story in the seven books. Still ... it would be nice to get more of the Wizarding World set-up...
