On reflection re: work, I feel way better, because while book publishing might be tough, it's not journalism (My First Job), where I'd have to pull out the Norrington Hollers icon all the time. Augh, those daily deadlines.

When I finished re-reading with Monstrous Regiment I went trawling cheesemongers for goods, and there was a post where the OP mentioned ( Read more... )

It's amazing what people can convince themselves to ignore.

I love Tiffany! The books might suffer a bit because of being written for a slightly different audience to most Discworld books, but I really adore Tiffany, and found Wee Free Men and A Hat Full of Sky enjoyable, and Wintersmith to be awesome. Not perfect, but one of my very favourites.

You could believe they're just really co-dependent and good friends
My first thought was, "You could say this of Sherlock Holmes and Watson!"

Thanks for the gorgeous art links! ♥

My overwhelming reaction was, "Pretty! Pretty! Interesting! Wow! That's sweet - and .... hey... HEY... I never realised Angua was blond and blue-eyed! ... Pretty..."

You've seen the new movie, I take it. And you know, I wasn't thinking of them as anything more than friends for most of the movie, then at some point Watson busts out a "You're gorgeous!" (and certainly seems to mean it), and at the end Holmes says "If I can't move my tongue you'll have no use for me at all." So yeah. For Holmes and Watson, as with Lofty and Tonker, there is so much shipping leeway that it saved the Titanic.
(...I really hope that metaphor made sense...)

They're so beautiful they had to be shared.
