"They look small, but they're strong..." Suzaku remarked as approached and held the jar out to Lloyd, panting as he did so. "S-sorry it took so long sir."

"Oh, don't worry about it," Lloyd said, painfully aware that his own heart had just stopped hammering not minutes ago. He accepted the jar and turned it round so the little goblin was facing him. It was quite a grotesque looking creature: though basically humanoid in shape, its limbs and features were twisted and stunted. The red cap it wore looked unpleasantly slick.

"I'm glad I didn't specify 'pretty'," he said, cheerfully. The thing inside the jar hammered its fist against the glass. Lloyd nearly dropped it; the hit had been a hard one - he'd felt the shock of it up his arm.

He caught it again, surprisingly deft, in his other hand. "All right," he said, casting a look to Suzaku before looking back at the goblin. "Do you talk?"

It screwed up its features at him, bearing its broken and sharp teeth. Lloyd hummed.

"Did it say anything to you, Kururugi?"

"No," Suzaku shook his head, levelling his gaze on the creature. It was dangerous, and he had to protect Lloyd if it got out of that jar. "Perhaps it doesn't speak our language?"

"Mmm..." It was a possibility, but Lloyd wasn't sure of it. They seemed to have no problem understanding them as a whole, from what he'd seen. Of course, that might be the larger ones, like the woman at the lake.

He decided not to think about it and reached into his pocket to withdraw his own iron link.

"All right," he said, "I'll ask again: Do you talk?"

Once again, the creature hit the glass. This time Lloyd did drop it, give a gasp of shock. The force was no less strong than it had been the first time. As the glass fell, he heard what was unmistakably laughter.
