My sister was here, and we watched Twilight

So, since the last time I posted, my sister has been home to visit, we watched all 3 Twilight movies with my sister-in-law, I've finished my Yuletide fic, I've defaulted on a different challenge, Hawaii Five-0 has continued to be the gayest show on television, and I've gotten caught up on White Collar.

If I can find the books cheap somewhere I probably will go ahead and read them. I did read the first novel, and immediately adored pretty much all of the Cullens except for Edward & Rosalie, and I could probably deal with both of them if it weren't for the Bella angst. I've heard from a number of sources that Breaking Dawn reads like the bad fanfic that somebody wrote based on somebody else's bad fanfic. Which kind of makes sense, because Twilight read like bad fanfic in the first place. The really sad thing to me is that there's this thread of really interesting ideas in the books/movies, but the execution is just so abysmal

Jack the Ripper isn't one of the many many things that I've been terribly obsessive over, but I have read quite a lot, and watched more Discovery & PBS specials on him than I care to think about. I had actually just started Patricia Cornwell's book before our fire almost 2 years ago now. I need to reacquire it, because I thought it opened quite well. Of course, I've actually got a whole stack of things to read right now (The library book sale was very very good to me, and I've been writing like a crazy person since I went, so I haven't even started on all my new reading material yet), so it will probably wait until Spring.
