LOL, SPN has stolen a lot from Buffy. And the X-Files. One that springs to mind is the Rugaru episode which is freakishly on par with this X-files up about a freakish shark man trying to fight his taste for blood/meat.

I like to look at them as all part of the same universe deriving from similar mythos sources, as opposed to "stealing".

Also, your journal title or whatever is a Green Day lyric ("she's a symbol of resistance") and it makes me excessively happy.

Oh dear SPN. And yeah, I guess the basic premises are similar, like with this I've been told that the monster is actually one from a legend. But still, even considering this, the episodes are so similar it's hard to believe that one didn't follow t'other.

Yeah I love this song! It's so feminist and awesome :D

That monster from both eps is a legend...I didn't just see it in boths shows...I also did see it some movies...and I read two novels with that thing. I wouldn't say he stole the story...but he might got inspired by the Buffy plot. ^_^

Ok, that explains the premise. But not the practical identicalness of the episodes. The fact that it was flu, the childhood link... Hmmmm.

But at least we know it's an actual monster. Rather than straight plagiarism.

IDK about the other stuff, but the fact that it's children is part of the legend/myth that I've seen in other movies/shows/books. a creature that sucks the life out of a person to gain mor for themselves goes for someone with a lot of life left- children.

No I meant the childhood link for both the characters. Like Buffy's cousin got killed by the monster and Sam almost got killed. It was done really similarly too, with flashbacks throughout.

Btw awesome icon! I love the original film :D

SPN is awesome but I've noticed it stealing from Buffy and Charmed. *shakes fist*

Yeah. I honestly don't know what to think about SPN! On the one hand it's great fun, the plots are great, the (male) characters compelling and brilliantly written... But on the other hand it's undeniably chauvenistic, if not misogynistic, steals from other shows, and lost it's way after S2 (imo).

*sighs*

Oh well. And with the stealing thing, I guess there are only so many stories you can write about a specific genre. But in this case, even if the monster were a legend (which I have been told) the parallels are just too close for it to be an honest mistake! It was even done the same, with flashbacks throughout!

Deary me, SPN.

I still love Supernatural, and if it helps any Whedon and Kripke are good friends from what I know.
