Slashy Star Trek Novel

Jul 14, 2009 22:49

Last month there was a discussion on slashiest star trek novels. I dutifully read all the recommendations and purchased several of the books. Today I picked a real gem that I don't remember being on the list . Sondra Marshak and Myrna Culbreath have given us the slash greats Price of the Phoenix and Fate of the Phoenix. They also edited and ( Read more... )

WHAT THE SHIT?! WHY DO I NOT OWN THIS?

XD Oh Marshak and Culbreath. Do your slashy shenanigans know no bounds? XD

They clearly know no bounds AND they managed to get this stuff published!!! I hope you have read The Price of the Phoenix. While the prose is a bit heavy handed, the K/S, OMdoubleG! The whole book is "You'll never get to Kirk, Spock is here," and well, lots more. Forgive me, it's 3am and I just got back from Half Blood Prince, and I have to work in a few. Of course, I will probably spend some more time with my new book ;)
Peace, Sniffre

Wow, blast from the past! I remember those stories. It's been years since I've read them. And yes, although I wasn't a slasher at the time, I remember thinking Kirk and Spock had some heavy subtext going on at the time, lol.

I didn't begin my K/S life as a slasher either (I was only 11 at the time), but I'm sure I will die that way.

"Spock turned as the transporter effect released them, with some thought of how to hustle the Captain off to bed, not too obviously." Seriously?!
*still laughing* XD XD

"I certainly hope not. And if you did, where were you when I needed you?"

"Where were you, when I was horny and needed you?!"
XD

And what's the titel: "Star Trek new voyages"? I may just buy it if I can. Please please write a full review on slashy subtext if you've read everything. I can't wait. ;)

Star Trek: The New Voyages 2 edited by Sondra Marshal and Myrna Culbreath. Book 1 is also slashy but it doesn't start off with as big a bang as this one. Although, there is one scene in one of the stories where Spock ponders, out loud while on the bridge in front of all, why he and Kirk can't run off and be together always. Granted, he was under the influence of mind control but the mind control only freed him to say what he wanted, it didn't create the desire. Again completely sanctioned slash.

I seriously love your icon... Kirk looks so, um, manly?

"Everyone should read those books."

All I can hear in my mind is Zach at the Maxim party saying, "ABSOLUTELY!!!"

Spread the word...Sniffre

Proof that slash makes an awful story awesome = The Motion Picture.

But yeah, seriously, that sounds pretty awesome. And Nichelle Nichols as a slasher = win! Wouldn't it be cool if NuUhura became a slasher to, and encouraged her boyfriend to go after the Captain in the NuTrek sequel? (randomness factor of that comment : 435)

That word seals it for me too. I mean, it's not like the word already existed and he thought 'Oh yeah, that sorta fits Kirk & Spock, I mean except for the lover bit, but whatever'. He made it mean lover. Why on Earth would he do that unless he wanted us to think of them in that way?
