Three USB ports are not cutting it. One day I'm going to yank something out of the laptop and it's going to crash on the floor, or some other destructive accident is going to happen, and then This Will All End In Tears.

So I need one of these.

i have the same feeling cos my multi has 4 and my laptop has only TWO ports. having said that, the multi has worked for 2 years (i-rocks), although it wont detect my extl hard disk.

is there an injunction against more than 4 ports?

btw do u plug in the power for the multi?

More than 4 ports is more expensive, and generally need to be powered. I'm still a cheapass grad student, and I'd like to have a non-powered one. It won't detect your external probably because externals (the unpowered 2.5" ones) draw power through the usb, and the ports are unable to provide as much.

Unless you plug in the power.

When I had the powered multi I powered it directly, yes.. it still died eventually.
