my opinion... in french sorry! oyomons September 18 2005, 10:41:07 UTC
I hope you'll understand...

Mais ton anglais est très bon!

Bonne question.

the needs of the many outweight the needs of the one, well not in star trek 3 productofsystem September 22 2005, 04:03:45 UTC
ok, i just kinda got my internet back, so i don't know if you even are checking this anymore... but here it is. i was asked this same question freshman year. my answer has not changed. i would not kill the person. let's say morality existed and ethics with it... unless i am the one actually killing with a gun or whatever those ten, people. their deaths are not on my conscience. i mean you can look at it as a sin of omission. my failure to act costed 10 people their lives. but IIII did not kill them. and i didn't kill the one. i have killed no one. the evil lies in the crazy gunman or whatever. i am not the evil one. 10 lives or 1. i would still be a murderer. it would still be me pulling the trigger. and in my opinion, killing is wrong. (in a world of ethics). AND how you can you weight the importance of 10 lives over 1. there's more of them, but that doesn't always mean that they're more important than the 1. i don't know... that's my feelings on the matter. i'm kind of surprised no one else already said all this.

I agree with you. I would not be able to pull the trigger. I would feel a lot worse if I directly killed someone as opposed to indirectly killing 10 other people.
