Hope had gone. Good. Deimos did not want her harmed, so the simplest solution was to keep her out of this. Out of it, she was.

Picking up on his wife's thoughts, he gave her a mental nod. If Zeus was leaving it up to his best judgement, then judgement there would be. His train of thought was momentarily jarred when he felt the daughter he disowned appear on Olympus. She was helping, of course. If she valued her mobility, she would not hinder. But he was not pleased to have her this close, the daughter who abandoned her family. Nyx must have pulled many strings to get her to come for this.

He let Hybris do what she wanted. He would not speak to her. He spoke to Prometheus instead, again silently.

"Now we destroy these that we have gathered. If there are any others on Olympus. We will find them as well. And we are not alone any longer. Let us search."Of course, The Darkness penetrated everything now. As expected, Nyx had Apollo firmly in hand, and his power was not interfering with Erebos in the slightest. If anything, Apollo had ( ... )

Prometheus moved to the center of the massive courtyard that faced all temples, his eyes searching darkness for more. The coat he wore was ruined now with soot and cinder, but he took no more notice of his clothing than he ever had before. There was work to be done, enemies to be destroyed. All in the name of Zeus. Since his 'patron', as it were, had not seen fit to join in the cleansing of his kingdom - nor had he even appeared briefly - Prometheus didn't feel terribly about lighting a cigarette ( ... )

Prometheus' glib comment struck him strangely. While he was grateful for Prometheus' help, when (after all the work Nyx did) all but one of the recruited had shown - and Hybris hardly counted -, their actions felt. Uncomfortable ( ... )

Prometheus sat on a large chunk of marble, embedded in the cool grass, and pressed the cigarette to his lips. His free hand held the Zippo that had become a constant companion, and the triple clicks sounded in rapid succession, each one quicker than the last, until it all sounded as one, each individual note almost indistinguishable. He would, he thought, be glad when it was done. His glib thought a moment ago, that he might well enjoy more of the same, was far too glib for the circumstances. If he never did see another battlefield, if he never was forced to do unpleasant things in the name of the greater good again, he might well be able to accept those things he'd been forced to endure previously. As it was, it seemed that every time he did the Right Thing, he was punished for it ( ... )

Hybris was glad that her mother said the plan was still in effect. It had been a very long time since Bree had indulged in outright violence, strong and sweet and terrible. And there was always the pleasure of addling the brains of foolish little warriors who prided themselves on understanding the finer points of violence. If they wanted understanding, she could give it to them. And she most certainly would.

She noted where Prometheus was, then noticed that the Guard by Ares temple (what was left of them) were being held by Erebos. No thanks.

She headed in the opposite direction, unwittingly doing exactly what Erebos had just told Prometheus to do -- search and destroy.

It was a merry little chase. She took her time.

And if she accidentally spilled flashes of blinding pride and the deepseated desire for violence into the darkness around her, oops... She smiled to herself.

Well, maybe he will step back outside. Whether from curiosity or a sudden mood swing, or a sudden urge to get what is his…whatever that is, he goes. In front of his temple in what would be blinding darkness, Dionysos changes forms to that of a leopard. A nocturnal animal and his favorite, he slinks about and paces up and down his steps just waiting for an errant guard to pass.

Moments later, he senses one and without hesitation, his leopard form pounces to the soldiers dismay. Flesh, be it mortal, immortal, animal or man; it tastes just the same and Dionysos eats to his heart's content.

Hybris was happily covered in blood, her few kills having suffered greatly at her hand. Her bare hand. Just one of them. But in the distance, she saw a leopard, a divine leopard if she didn't miss her mark, and she had to stop and admire the precision, the glorious strong jaws that did their worst.

Bree had been wrong about not wanting to come and do this. This was fun! Every so often, she released more and more of her power into the darkness, knowing full well that Erebos would be feeling it. If she was careful, if she was discreet, she could fill him so full of pride that he wouldn't notice the kernels of violence she kept on adding, so much slower. Maybe she could fuck him up.

The vengeance for his asshole ways would be great. She smiled just at the thought of it.

Making her way merrily to the leopard, she offhandedly drew an Arean Guard out into the open with a bolt of insolence. It was the last mistake he ever made, leaving the sentry position where he had been standing.

As he eats, Dionysos almost does not see pride sneaking up on him, but when he senses that she isn't gunning for him, he goes back to working on a tasty bit of thigh muscle for a few minutes longer.

He considers going after another, but he’s more than satisfied at the moment. God or no, his belly is getting full. As Hybris edges closer, he nudges an arm to her. Being in this form sort of brings some of the leopard’s qualities to the forefront. Sharing a kill with one who has seen him through many fits of wrath, he looks up with bloodied mouth and purrs.

As the world they know goes six different ways to absolute idiocy, Attis shakes his head and steps outside of their domicile. By the time he makes it to the top of their home and in the darkness no less, he's ready to be done with it all and go back to tending to Rhea.

He opens the bag brought up with him and bit-by-bit Arean ashes start flying in the breeze. Flashing here there and everywhere, there's no way that one is ever coming back.

Time for a smoke as he stands on Rhea's steps, pondering al of this. Not born an Olympian, not a Titan and definitely not born of Hades or Poseidon’s crew, Attis is just Attis and some days he wonders where he would be if he had stood up to his father and said no to that idiotic marriage in his mortal days.

He disappeared from Nyx' side.

His form settled again in front of his son. He had been monitoring Deimos' progress with satisfaction while he spoke with Nyx.

"A job cleanly done. With a new sword, I see."

Even blood could not cover the new shine of the sword. He wondered briefly where his son had created it (for Deimos struck Erebos as the type who would not like wielding a sword he himself did not forge), before looking back to Deimos.

"It is good to have you here. Two others did not show. I am displeased with them. But it. Is good. To have you here, son."

Deimos looked at the sword. "Maybe not new, but the first time I've used it yes."

He sheathed it and narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean they didn't show? Not at all?"

He was aware he was slightly late in getting things done, but he had gotten them done.

"It suits you."

Erebos closed his hands slowly at his sides. "Of the ones called, only you and Hybris responded. Styx. Her children. Moros. All ignored the call. There will be words later."

He spread his essence across Olympus yet again, the dusk darkening to something more tangible. The uneasiness that came with Dark such as this increased briefly as he sought out any remaining of the Arean Guard. There were none. This pleased him.

"As for now. Our part is done. We step aside and give power to the one for whom we fought."

For good or bad, he thought to himself silently ( ... )
