Dreamwidth

Joining the mass migration, I opened a dreamwidth account at the weekend, and today it has finally managed to import my entire lj archive going back to 2007. Woohoo! I'd almost given up on it ever working, and was starting to think I would lose all that history ( Read more... )

Are you actually leaving, or just having the DW as a backup?

I'm certainly staying while LJ stays up.

My intention right now is to stay on lj for as long as it remains possible. DW is mostly just an emergency backup, but it's looking increasingly iffy for the future of lj :-(

Same here. We might be lucky if they target only non-Russian owned media.

Aha, I was about to message you and see if you were on DW, because of course right now I'm the only mod of p100 over there! I'll try and work out how to add you as mod. I'm same name.

I'm also just putting up a message to the comm to remind people we're there and saying they can cross-post/post if they want.

Sorted, I've joined P100, and friended you on dw, so that's done. I'm still trying to find my way around dw so bear with me if I miss somethjng obvious. I'm guessing much of it is similar to lj, but it's just using different terminology and possibly under different menu options.

I added you on DW my name there is under_the_silk_tree.

Hopefully LJ sticks around but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Friended on dw. :-)

Indeed, I would much rather stay on lj, but right now it all looks just a bit too iffy to count on it. Better to have an emergency backup plan and not need it, than blindly hope for the best and lose it all if everything goes south.

Friends groups are called circles over there. If you look for 'organise' on your home page you'll see manage circle in the drop down. There should be all your lj friends if you imported them and you should have the same custom groups set up too. I just added you so you should see that I subscribe to you and I grant you access to mine. (anotherbackup)

If you go to mine, you'll see 'add to your circle' at the top of my page.

It take a bit of getting used to but hopefully it's not too dissimilar to LJ.

Thanks for the info. I'm still trying to get my head round it all on DW, I'm not good with change!

I'm hoping that it's just because it all looks new and different, and that really it does mostly work in a similar way to lj, it's just a matter of getting used to different terminology and finding things under slightly different menus.

I don't like change either. But it's better than the thought of losing everyone.

Just subscribed to you and granted you access to me on DW, which I think is the same as being mutual friends here.
