It won't let me post over at Wedding Plans todaydaiqAugust 6 2009, 04:57:17 UTC
I think the whole idea is adorable. :D
But, can i suggest that if you are going with real tomatos in any form, that they are wrapped in some way (like your cellophane bags, love the cellophane bags), it may sound crazy, but i am allergic to Tomato, i can not even touch them. And i know, i know, i am not coming to your wedding and i am sure of someone had a tomato allergy on your guest list you would know about it yes? I just have horror nightmares of tomato crosscontamination at the supermarket, let alone at a wedding ;)
I would totally take seeds home though (in their packet) and the boy could plant and tend them.

That is something that I'm really happy that you brought up because that actually hadn't crossed my mind.
I had thought about having the tomatoes out on the table and having cellophane bags on the side but this definitely makes me think that we would need to bag them ahead of time.

Honestly though, i do have to remind myself that an allergy as severe as mine is NOT normal ;) So as long as you know that no one is allergic to tomato (and i know when going events like weddings i always RSVP and then follow with a phone call "so, about what i can eat" ;)), then it isnt an issue to just have them out on the table. It is a really fine line us allergic walk between being sane and rational and OMGALLERGICYOUARETRYINGTOKILLME!!!!
I wouldn't think it would take all that long to bag and tag a tomato. Even assuming it took you a whole minute each, that's only about four hours for 250 tomatoes if you're alone, two if you have a helper, and you could still probably issue commands via phone or something at the same time. Is your schedule so packed as to preclude that?
I don't know about you or yours specifically, but many women seem to treat wedding planning with a rigor that matches, or perhaps exceeds, the planning and execution of a major military operation. Will there be paratroopers involved in your ceremony?
Have you thought about asking for help? I certainly didn't put hydrangea blossoms and ribbons on all those bubbles myself. I could probably give you and/or anyone else a hand bagging tomatoes.
I haven't really brought in any family/friends help for anything thus far except for with our invitations.
Brian's parents helped us stuff the envelopes and get everything addressed and it was a total and complete disaster. It was incredibly stressful. It would have taken me a lot longer but I almost feel that I would rather have done them all by myself.
I suppose I could recruit some of my friends to help but I wouldn't want to pressure anyone to help. I feel like Brian's parents helped because they felt like they had to and not because they wanted to.
I really appreciate your offer and I may take you up on it :)

Granted, I love cherry tomatoes. I'd totally take those home and snack on them later.

:) I love it :)
I agree. We're just trying to do as much as we can ahead of time to reduce the load of whatever we'll have to do the week of.
