Probation Apologies to
alienswhoa for stealing an amalgamation of adjectives off of him. And I’m sorry if this is ‘lighter’ than expected. Just trust me when I say the next one will make up for it.
And for the record, I have no idea what food is popular. Written for

If John ever doubted how devious his girlfriend could be, he no longer had a reason to by day 27 of his probation. The little minx was most definitely making him pay for messing with her and leaving her ‘hanging’.
Only it wasn’t the way he had planned.
John frowned, drumming his fingers on the table. He could have handled more of those skimpy outfits, and quite probably lived through any kind of sexual game that she threw his way, but no. He realised now that Rogue was a girl not to be trifled with, because when you quite literally fuck with her, she is pure evil.
For the past 13 days he had had to put up with Jubilee sitting with them at every meal, as well as study sessions in the library, when Rogue hadn’t been in the Danger Room working on her control with Colossus. Not to mention that Rogue’s skimpy clothing disappeared to be replaced by the old clothes she used to wear: the kind that showed no skin, and hid her beautiful curves. Then, just when he thought that last Saturday night when he had to watch some piece of crap teen romance, while Jubilee and Rogue braided each other’s hair, was the worst that could happen, Rogue had sprung a double date with Lee and Rasputin on him.
And she’d confiscated his Zippo, to boot-hence the finger drumming. The only consolation of the whole evening so far was the fact that she was wearing that little black skirt and fishnets he liked so much.
A gloved hand stilled his tapping fingers and he turned to see brown eyes filled with smug satisfaction and a smirk that rivaled his best.
Rogue laced her fingers through his. “You did this to yourself, St. John.”
John’s frown deepened. “I gotta say, when you threatened retribution I was expecting something a bit more… fun.”
Rogue raised an eyebrow at him, and then broke out into a grin. “Sugar, if I tried to up the ante with sex, we both know where that would have ended up.”
John smirked, his gaze returning to the table. “Yeah, and it would have been fan-fucking-tastic.”
Rogue leant closer to him, her breath tickling his ear as she whispered. “But that’s not the point of punishment, now is it?”
John turned his head back towards her, his mouth dangerously close to hers. “All depends on the punishment. I would have totally got behind any kind of S&M thing you wanted to try out. Handcuffs, stilettos, leather…”
Rogue gave a breathy little laugh, and playfully hit him on the shoulder. “Dirty boy.”
“Now imagine saying that while wearing a leather corset and cracking a whip.”
Before Rogue could answer him, Jubilee and Peter returned to the table with drinks.
Jubilee narrowed her eyes at John as she slid two glasses across the table. “Hope you’re behaving yourself, Johnny.”
John arranged his face into the picture of innocence ignoring Rogue’s snicker as she let go of his hand to take her drink. “Yes, Miss Lee.”
Jubilee didn’t look convinced, choosing to focus her attention on the menus instead. She handed one to Rogue and John, keeping the other for her and Peter.
John frowned at the laminated cardboard. “Remind me again why we’re at a sushi restaurant.”
“Because sushi is the new black.”
John looked across at Jubilee like she’d just said something in a foreign language. Peter just looked uncomfortable.
John cleared his throat. “I’m sorry?”
Jubilee sighed, like it was going to be far too beneath her to explain her comment. “Sushi is the new black. Teen Vogue said so.”
Rogue frowned. “Isn’t black the new black?”
John turned to his girlfriend, suddenly feeling like he had no idea who he was sitting next to. “You speak Jubilation?”
Rogue grinned. “You forget I share a room with her.”
John nodded, turning back to Jubilee who was waiting for them to finish their little exchange.
“That’s for fashion. In food, sushi is the new black.”
Rogue frowned. “But shouldn’t sushi be like, the new Subway, or whatever was just popular?”
“Portuguese.”
“Huh?”
“Portuguese was very popular last season. Don’t ask me why, or who ate it. But apparently it was the big thing in Hollywood.”
“But I would have thought that, you know, all that healthy take-out was the big thing.”
Jubilee shook her head. “Nope, Portuguese. I read it in Cosmo Girl.”
Rogue eyebrows went up; apparently this was news to her. “Really?”
John again turned to Rogue. “You cannot be having this conversation.”
Rogue smiled patiently at John as she patted him on the leg. “I’m sorry, can’t you keep up with Girlish?”
John raised an eyebrow. “I’ve got no problem with Girlish, it’s more the subject matter.”
Rogue frowned. “Food?”
John shook his head. “Never mind. I’ll just go back to the menu and pretend I can’t hear you.”
Rogue grinned at Jubilee. Teasing John was getting far too easy.
“Do you even like sushi?”
She shivered when John’s breath caressed her skin as he leant in close to whisper in her ear. Rogue wondered how he could make a question like that sound so dirty.
“No, do you?”
She glanced up to see John shaking his head, his eyes lingering on her mouth. Rogue cursed him as she fought against everything in her body that told her to kiss him. Before she could turn to ask Jubilee what she thought about sushi in an effort to get her mind off of John’s lips, the black-haired girl had Pete by the hand and was dragging him away.
“Be right back.”
John and Rogue looked at each other, and then back at Peter who was giving them a forlorn look.
“I feel sorry for the big guy.”
“Why?”
John met her questioning look. “I pity any man Jubilee has her sights set on, because there really is no escape.” He looked back at Peter, and then focused on Rogue. “There’s a burger place down the street if you feel like making a run for it.”
Rogue smiled at the desperation on his face. “Sounds good.”
John took Rogue by the hand, leading her down the street towards the red and gold decorated salvation. As soon as they walked through the doors, John breathed in the smell of grease and something else that was never quite identifiable, but synonymous with take-out places. He didn’t bother consulting Rogue before pulling her up to the counter and ordering, not even looking up at the menu.
He turned around, leaning against the counter as he waited for the food, raising his eyebrows at her look of confusion. “What?”
“How did you know what I wanted?”
John smirked. “Have you forgotten how many times I had to go out for burgers with you and the ice cube? I know all your favorite foods.”
Rogue leaned into him, steadying herself with a hand on his chest, her fingers creating lazy circles on the leather jacket. “Oh really?”
John nodded, tugging on the zipper of her sweatshirt to bring her in for a quick kiss. He smiled when they broke apart. “Yep.”
The noise of someone clearing their throat broke into their quiet moment, and Rogue stepped back from John, blushing as she looked at the cashier. John took the tray of food and led Rogue to a little table up the back.
Rogue tried not to look disappointed when she took her seat across from him. “No booth?”
John grinned. “That’s for the second date.”
Rogue returned the grin. “You planning on another one?”
“Only if you play your cards right.”
Rogue laughed, removing her gloves before popping a fry into her mouth. She stopped chewing at the serious look on John’s face. “What?”
“What’s with the Little Green Riding Hood look?”
Rogue shrugged, looking down at her green hooded sweatshirt. “It’s just a top.”
“Take it off.”
“No.”
John frowned. “Why not?”
Rogue slowly chewed on a fry before answering him. “Because I don’t want to.”
John continued to frown at her. “But why?”
Rogue sighed, throwing a fry at him. “Because, you idiot, it’ll ruin the surprise.”
John ate the fry she’d thrown at him. “What surprise?”
Rogue groaned as she unwrapped her burger. “If I tell you it won’t be a surprise, will it?”
John narrowed his eyes, like he was trying to see through her jacket. “Is it naughty underwear?”
A blush started spreading over Rogue’s face. “John!”
He smirked. “It is, isn’t it?”
Rogue shook her head. “Now you’ll never know.”
John’s smirk faltered. “What’d I do?”
Rogue laughed, covering her mouth as she tried not to spit out the bite of burger she’d taken. “Just being your general pain in the ass self.”
John looked at her incredulously. “That’s hardly reason to be denying me whatever it is you got under there.”
Rogue shrugged. “Maybe you should think about behaving yourself for a little while, and then I might just rethink showing you.”
John grumbled something under his breath, taking an angry bite of his burger. Rogue just smiled at him, looking all sweetness and light.
After they finished eating, the two went back to the sushi bar to find Jubilee and Peter. Rogue and John exchanged amused looks as they took their seats across from the other couple, who were looking very inseparable as Jubilee all but straddled the big Russian as they made out.
John whispered to Rogue as he draped his arm across the back of her seat. “Tell me we don’t look like that when we kiss.”
Rogue giggled, looking at John as she tried to ignore what was happening across from them. “We’re way hotter.”
John nodded, satisfied. He looked at Rogue, blue eyes sparkling with mischief as his eyes flicked to her mouth. “Should we maybe show them how it’s done?”
The corner of Rogue’s mouth curled as she raised an eyebrow. “I thought I told you to behave yourself?”
John brought his mouth close to hers. “You should know by now that I very rarely do what I’m told.”
Hesitation crossed Rogue’s features as John’s lips brushed hers, but she gave in with a moan when he deepened the kiss. Her hand slid up the side of his face before her fingers tangled in his hair as she opened her mouth to accept his tongue. Her skin started to tingle as her mutation activated, but John didn’t struggle against it, despite what had happened the last time.
The sound of someone coughing loudly, and very theatrically, made them break apart. Rogue’s face was flushed, her breathing shallow as she glanced guiltily at her best friend who was staring at her from across the table, arms crossed over her chest.
John’s eyes were slightly out of focus, but he couldn’t help smiling at Jubilee, his obvious lack of remorse making her frown even deeper. “Lighten up, Lee. If we have to sit here and watch you try and suck the tin man dry, we’re allowed a little action ourselves.”
Jubilee huffed. “Have you forgotten the whole not touching Rogue rule?”
Rogue put her hand on John’s leg when she saw his face contort into a sneer. She turned to Jubilee. “We’re weak, okay? I mean come on, we’ve lasted 27 days already without kissing. And Jubilee,” her face turned serious, but her voice was pleading, “I really, really needed to kiss my damn boyfriend.”
Jubilee’s face softened when she looked at Rogue, but she frowned when her eyes flicked towards John seeing his victorious smirk. “Fine, but that’s it for the night, okay? No more. You guys have to go back to mentally fucking each other with your heated glances.” She suddenly brightened as she turned to look at Peter, then back at Rogue. “Time to go to the club?”
When they were walking out of the sushi place, Jubilee fell into step with Rogue.
“Don’t think I didn’t notice that you two were gone.”
Rogue gave her a guilty smile. “Sorry, Jubes. I needed real food, you know?”
Jubilee hooked her arm through Rogue’s. “Yeah, right. So was it good?”
Rogue shook her head. “Crappy fries.”
Jubilee rolled her eyes. “The kiss, stupid.”
“Oh, um…” Rogue glanced at Jubilee, breaking into a grin. “Knee weakeningly good.”
Jubilee sighed. “You two are so nauseating.”
Rogue laughed. “So what about you?”
“The kiss?”
Rogue nodded. “Uh huh.”
Jubilee glanced behind them at Peter, before grinning at Rogue. “Wondersupertastic.”
When they reached the club, the two girls made straight for a free table while the boys grabbed drinks. John set Rogue’s drink in front of her, careful to press his body against hers as he leant over her, feeling her tense as she held her breath. She relaxed only once he had taken his seat next to her. She gave him a shy smile while she took a sip of her soda.
He leant in close, his mouth brushing her ear as he spoke. “No point in going shy on me now, Rogue. I know all your dirty secrets.”
Rogue’s cheeks started to turn pink. John chuckled, leaning back in his seat.
Jubilee looked at Rogue. “Time to hit the dance floor?”
Rogue nodded, then looked at John. “You want to dance?”
John shook his head. “Ain’t my thing.”
Rogue bit her lip, glancing at the dance floor then back at him. “You sure?”
John nodded, leaning forwards again, his face close to hers. “You go ahead. I prefer watching anyway.”
Rogue smiled, releasing her bottom lip. “I was hoping you’d say that.”
John’s brow knitted in confusion as she stood up, all signs of nervousness gone from her face. Her obvious joy at what he had said starting to worry him. He tried not to watch with too much interest as she started unzipping her sweatshirt. His breath hitched when he saw the silk camisole underneath, the forest green colour emphasizing her porcelain skin. Rogue gave him a wicked smile, one that he hadn’t seen for weeks and one that now caused his heart to skip a beat.
“Look after these.”
Rogue handed him the sweatshirt and her gloves, which he took without thinking. His eyes following the sway of her hips as she took Jubilee’s arm and headed onto the dance floor.
Wait, she took Jubilee’s arm? Jubilee’s exposed arm?
John snapped out of his daze, his eyes narrowing as he confirmed that, yes, Rogue was touching Jubilee with no gloves and no long sleeves protecting the Eurasian. John frowned, but had no chance to think on this further as Rogue started moving to the music.
Fuck.
John groaned as realization hit him, and his blood started rushing south at the sight of Rogue’s hips moving, her hands running over her body and her eyes finding his across the crowded room.
The little minx. No, wait, she had just graduated to bitch. All this time with her doing a complete reversal on the skimpy clothing and sex games now made sense. And again, he was struck with the notion that his girlfriend really was capable of pure evil. She’d used his own fantasies against him, and now in a very busy club he was becoming aware of the fact that his jeans were far too tight and all he had to cover it up was her fucking sweatshirt. John really wanted to march over there and-
Christ, did she just spank her own ass?
John let out a quiet groan as his eyes stayed glued to her body, watching as she raked her fingers up her thighs, lifting her skirt just enough for John to forget to breathe. She knew exactly what she was doing, the fact that she never took her eyes off him while she danced-was it even dancing? -confirmed that.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
John just about jumped out of his seat when the voice of Rasputin cut through his thoughts. He didn’t look away from Rogue, but turned his head slightly to indicate he was listening.
“You should know that she has complete control now.”
John’s head snapped around so fast, he was sure he’d given himself whiplash. “What?”
Peter gave him an awkward smile, nodding briefly in Rogue’s direction. “She has complete control now. No time limits, no ‘refreshing’ needed.”
John stared at Pete, his jaw hanging open until he regained enough sense to close it. “Why hasn’t she told me?”
Peter looked at his drink, then back up at John. “She told me to tell you, while she, ah…” Peter trailed off, looking mighty uncomfortable as he shifted in his seat.
John frowned. “While she fucked with me?”
Peter grimaced. “Yeah.”
John turned back to look at Rogue. Of all the lowdown, sneaky things to-
Fuck.
He watched helplessly as she ran her hands over her chest; drawing attention to her hardened nipples, her hips moving in ways that caused John to forget his own name, but made him think of numerous lewd and lascivious acts he wanted to commit. All he could do was sit there, and pray that no one asked him to stand because he was fairly certain that that was not possible.
Jubilee came back over to the table, smirking at John as she passed to settle on Peter’s lap. “Enjoying the show, Sparky?”
John didn’t turn as he flipped Jubilee, his eyes still on Rogue as she started moving to the next song.
Jubilee laughed, taking a sip of Peter’s drink and listening intently as he whispered into her ear, before heading back out into the fray. She touched Rogue on the arm, stilling the brunette’s movement enough to inform her of John’s reaction and that Peter had fulfilled his part in proceedings. Rogue grinned, then glanced back at John, giving him a wink.
John thanked the powers that be for small mercies when Rogue finally stopped dancing and returned to the table with Jubilee five songs later. His body had calmed down somewhat, and he was able to lean forward, hooking his fingers under Rogue’s seat and dragging it so that it was right up against his, her legs between his knees.
John’s voice was loud enough for her to hear, but quiet enough that Jubilee and Peter wouldn’t hear what he said. “You just about killed me.”
Rogue smiled, her skin flushing under his heated gaze. “Serves you right, sugar.”
John brought his face in closer to hers, only to be pulled back by a hand on his collar. “Hey!”
Jubilee’s face suddenly appeared in his vision. “Down, boy.”
John sneered, anger flooding through him. “Listen Lee-”
Jubilee interrupted him. “Time to go.”
John struggled to get out of Peter’s iron grip, but it was no good. Rogue shrugged at him in apology, taking her jacket and gloves from him. It wasn’t until Jubilee and Rogue were a safe distance away that Peter let him go. John frowned up at the big Russian.
Peter gave him a comforting pat on the shoulder. “It was for your own good, trust me.”
As if what had just occurred already wasn’t punishment enough, John was now sitting in the mansion’s kitchen watching Rogue, Jubilee and Peter eat ice cream. Jubilee and Rogue were stuck in some conversation about shoes and Peter had been trying in vain to carry on a conversation with John, but he was met with stony silence.
Jubilee abruptly stood up, pushing her bowl away from her. “I’ve had enough.” She took Pete’s bowl away. “And so have you.” She took Pete by the hand to lead him out, but stopped when she reached John. She placed her other hand on his shoulder, ignoring the angry glare he gave her. “I hereby pardon you from your sentence of probation,” she glanced at Rogue, “you may now enjoy your freedom.”
John looked at Rogue, then at Jubilee. “Really?”
Jubilee smiled. “I’ve had a good night, and I can’t stand the way you guys look at each other when you have no… outlet. Consider it an early Christmas present.”
John mumbled thanks, watching as Rogue stood up, walking slowly around the table until she stood an arm’s length from him.
“Ready for the other surprise, now?”
Was he ever.
