This beautifully illustrates the inner struggle between the need to care for oneself and the inability to say no to others who drain us or are toxic. Hugs.
I really loved this. So guttingly relatable. And it's certainly the truth! All their help ever is is just shallowness, no genuine concern, just fake smiles and a nod and leave. ...
I adore this stanza. Very nicely done. :)
"because you never thank the ground until you know how it feels to fall and you never express how much you need the sun until it fails to rise at all."
This struggle is certainly all too real, and you're certainly not alone in that. Much peace to you.
This was an intense read. I enjoyed the way you wove so much of your poem in and out of visuals. I especially liked this one - because you never thank the ground until you know how it feels to fall!
I read this as a reflection on someone who might have committed suicide, for having given away so much love that others needed but not received it when she needed it most herself.
because you never thank the ground until you know how it feels to fall and you never express how much you need the sun until it fails to rise at all. This was wonderful, and says so much about taking things for granted-- important qualities in a person that are more rare than we realize.
learning to say a better good bye Ouch, but what perfect phrasing of the sense that things always seem to end, no matter how they start-- or at least, that they end for you. I knew that feeling all too well, in my younger years.
All I saw on my screen at first was the first part, the heart-shaped "excuses" area, and that would've been enough for me to vote for you - but you kept going and got deeper and deeper; so insightful.
