Pointless Ramblings on Twilight

I hate Twilight.

It feels so good to say. It's subpar crap and I don't understand the fascination with it. It truly bothers me that it's such a big deal and I honestly 100% believe that it has killed the intrigue of vampires because of it there is a new spawn of vampire shit like that new series The Gates that's coming out this summer--seriously, ( Read more... )

rant, twilight

I have read all of the Twilght series. Did I like it? Meh. I kind of put it in it's own little universe like DC's Elseworlds and it has no connection for me what so ever in any other kind of vampire lore. No connection. Nada. Hence it hasn't ruined vampires for me. I have loved the genre for years and I am not letting Twilight get in the way! I really enjoy the Sookie series for it's humor and the strength of the female lead. I have to laugh at the pacing sometimes though. It's so fast but it is also it's charm. Sometimes I can't stand Sookie but she thinks mean things I could imagine myself thinking and it makes a connection. Bella. Well, you said it all. She was every girl for about 10 pages. I do have to say, I saw the second movie in the theater on opening day, dragged there by my 40 something and 50 something friends. I had a blast watching the teens and tweens squeal in delight. Movie stunk but it was great stuff for an anthropologist. lol.

My son had friends who tried to make him read it. He just couldn't do it. He just keeps saying, "Vampires don't sparkle!"

The last Sookie book did have a rushed feeling at the end. I think it was supposed to be showing how she was kind of in and out of it from the pain. This will for sure change her. The new book is out but I just don't want to spend the money for the hardcover yet. I actually stood in front of it for ten minutes last week debating to get it or not. It's out at the library and I don't expect it to be there any time soon.

The guy playing Bella's dad is a riot. He was the best part. My son likes to point out Edward is Cedric Diggory and refuses to watch the movie. Kristen Stewart is a cute girl but her acting looks jittery. Then again I haven't seen her in anything else yet.

That's right! That came out, I completely forgot *so not on top of things*
I don't want to spend money on the hardcover either... and Vampires don't sparkle, he's very right about that.

I liked Robert as Cedric in the Harry Potter movies but ever since he did Twilight... ugh. I tried to watch another movie he was in (Remember Me, couldn't get threw it) to see if it was just my prejudice against Twilight and Edward but it's not. Kristen Stewart is in Adventure-land and is alright in it, she does this thing with her eyebrow a lot and constantly bits her bottom lip (like in the Twilight movies) I think she's fine, not a really great actress and overrated. But, Adventure land is a good movie. But that's mostly because Jesse Eisenberg is awesome.

Amen sister, I despise the Twilight series. You pretty much said it all, poor character development and horribly creepy lead. I cant stand Robert Patterson, he has that stalker look to him. Which I guess works, since Edward was a stalker. >.<

The Vampire Genre is very overdone right now. I'd love to see it die a horrible death. I haven't read anything acceptable in the vampire genre since Anne Rice. But, I primarily enjoy Anne Rice for her writing style and her descriptive prowess.

Don't worry, you're not alone in your hate of Twilight.

Yes! You are so right, that must be why Patterson is perfect to play Edward. I think the vampire genre needs a much need break... and perhaps after time may return. Hopefully, at the hands of a far more capable author.

It's always great to hear other's point of view.
Robert was good in Harry Potter, the first and last time he ever actually acted, well, in my opinion.
I agree with you on the Bella x Jacob thing. It was super pathetic on Bella's side and sad for poor Jacob :(
Jacob was the only one I ever became attached to, as much as possible when Mrs. Meyers is the author that is.

Honestly, I've never given Vampire Diaries a chance but I just can't. I know it only came to being because of Twilight and I just... I can't. I don't watch True blood because I've read the books and it's too difference. I just hate it when that happens. You honestly could watch the TV show and still be surprised about all that happens in the book because it is that different.

The TV show completely ruins dear Sam! I love him so much but the first season made him into something so less... his devotion to Sookie was just shit all over (pardon my vulgarness, but that's how pissed I was). I know I'm in the minority but I'm a SookiexSam die hard fan.

I completely agree ( ... )

Yeah, for jacob my heart went out to him completely - he's jus amazing xD

And I think you should give Vampire Diaries a chance, it's really good and Damon is such a badass - it's hard for you to hate him when you know you're suppose to!

And I actually want to read the True Blood books, i enjoy the series alot (Sam is a lil love suck puppy... kinna pathetic but yh xD) and if you're saying that the books are way better (which in most cases the books are indeed better) then I'd love to get my hand on those books even more.

I don't really have a shipper for True Blood as yet - everyone is up n down the place. But i do love Eric the best... I'm a sucker for badasses who does good but try to cover it with their jackass ways.

I was pissed at the votes for MTV awards - it's just not fair!

Kristen Stewart or Robert Patteson being modest/humble/right or anything of the sort? Lol, as if that will ever happen.
Kristen Stewart is a bitch. That's what all journalists say, she never smiles to people and if not for people she would not be famous. That's the type of celebrities that piss me off the most. How do they think they are famous? Because they have fans.
And Robert is nasty... he has terrible hygiene. That's what ever journalist/reporter that's talked to him says. That's just.... well, nasty.

And the books are good, but they aren't great they have their issues. They are about a thousand to the millionth power better than Twilight, though. And the story line is far more interesting/unique. I ship Bill/Sookie over Eric/Sookie. I like Eric, but I don't think they belong together. Their whole relationship is actually a mystery to me... I think it's purely sexual.

And dear Sam, I just love him <3 ( ... )
