Oh my gosh, that LITERALLY just took my breath away. Oh my gosh.

Oh my gosh!!! I'm with coloneljack saying that he is discussing the victim ;)

But I love that Ryan thinks that someone must be dead... like the inevitable "Who died?" joke actually having a solid answer. Beautiful, beautiful job.

Oh. Oh, wow. I'm such an awful person, but... throughout this whole scene, there's no Esposito. Ryan would have asked about him, like "Espo down there too?", unless he thought...

Oh geez. Mentally, I just killed Esposito.

Nuuuuuuu ;___;

But yeah, for some reason I didn't mentally jump to "wow Castle's gone" until I reread it. I took the "he's downstairs with Lanie...discussing the victim". Which, in hindsight, doesn't explain Beckett's reaction. But a dead Espo does.

Oh, I'm an awful person =[[

That's an interesting take on the fic. It's not what I intended, but I really enjoy the idea of fics going in directions that the author (me!) never intended, and how they take wing and have a life of their own. So thank you for your unexpected insight.

I can't decide if I want to go with theaquamarine or evraealtana's theory. Either way it breaks my heart to think that Beckett lost yet another part of her family.

Once again, fantastic job with the snippet!
