Okay I'm going to make a completely public post because I need as much help as I can get.

Other than Twilight, can anyone tell me what other vampire-related novels they have read (title/series and author) currently in the marketplace and give me an uber short rundown on what they're about (ie. Is it set in a school? Is it about a mortal hooking up ( Read more... )

Here via canadian_turtle!

I read the True Blood series which has already been mentioned here.

Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore is pretty awesome. Haven't read the sequels yet.

I really liked the 1st novel of the Parasol Protectorate series, Soulless. It's describes as steampunk paranormal romance and it's fun. It's a AU taking place in Victorian England where vampires and werewolves are part of society. The heroine is very capable and has two things that make her stand apart: she's soulless and she's unmarried at 27. She accidentally kills a vampire and she gets suspected in other disappearances so she's investigating this mystery with a werewolf.

Cassandra Palmer Series by Karen Chance - blurb from the first book: Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits-talents that make her attractive to the dead and the undead. The ghosts of the dead aren't usually dangerous; they just like to talk...a lot. The undead are another matter.

Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires. But when the bloodsucking Mafioso she escaped three years ago finds Cassie again with vengeance on his mind, she's forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection. The undead senators won't help her for nothing, and Cassie finds herself working with one of their most powerful members, a dangerously seductive master vampire-and the price he demands may be more than Cassie is willing to pay... Dark Ones series by Katie MacAlister - Is about "vampires" who don't call themselves Vampires but Dark Ones and are actually born like this or made by a demon lord. There are three types, the females who are called Morivian, males who have a soul and males who don't have a soul and ( ... )

Lyndsay Sands has an excellent series about the Argeneu family; vampires that live in Canada and they are descendants of Atlantis. Basically they got fangs and stuff after Atlantis fell but before that they were injected with nanos in order to fight illnesses.

Mary Janice Davidson also has a wonderful, mostly funny series under the name Undead and..., the last book is quite a bit darker than the rest but don't know if it's the last one in the series.

One series I haven't seen mentioned (which were bestsellers a few years ago, but might have disappeared a bit now) are the Den of Shadows novels by Amelia Atewater-Rhodes (who wrote the first one when she was 14, but they're not too bad).
