And, had hoped to post a few photos as well .... but
  • The computer is on a go-slow for uploading the photos, so I shall smile sweetly, and hope to get to share the photos with you at some point!
  • Yesterday was not a good day, so after work, and a walk, I slept most of the afternoon
  • Yes, although not a football fan I did watch some of the England v. ( Read more... )

Your clinic duty is very bizarre - I wonder why people don’t turn up.

Well the week is progressing well -

1 no-show Monday
2 on Tuesday
3 today

... so does that mean it will be 4 no-shows tomorrow?

So frustrating when you think of how many genuine people want an appt

We watched the match in a German biergarten. I'm just glad we weren't emotionally invested in the outcome. Also, the beer was delicious.

LOL - I bet there were a few "words" said from time to time, though!

There was a lot of yelling when Germany had a chance but nobody was despondent like they were in the stands at Wembley.

Happy birthday to your brother. Funny how our memories work.

Here the homecoming dance is after the special football game for the year. All of the people who graduated the year before and mostly every ten years come back for homecoming. I went to the dances when I was in school. I never went to the ten, twenty and so on later on. I didn't care about seeing those people again. I had moved on and had a life too busy to go back for that. Some people made a big deal about those homecoming parties. My brother did, but he was popular in school and all.

I took driver's ed in the summer. They really didn't teach us much in the car. I think I only drove through town once before I took my test. We mostly went out to the football stadium and drove around the parking area.

I think Tim had a good birthday, thanks. They were on holiday and had some mostly good weather - so a win, win

Oh thanks ... I have heard of Homecoming Dance (thanks BtVS etc), but didn't know what it was about.

Oh we always do practical driving more than thory ... but I suppose few of us drive automatics, so it gets more complicated. Now (but I didn't) there is a written theory test.

How fun to have a sibling with a birthday close to yours! Or maybe not? Did you ever have to share parties?

Did kids in England learn the Grandfather Clock song (I doubt American kids do now - it's old)? "My grandfather's clock was too tall for the shelf so it stood 90 years on the floor. It was taller by half than the old man himself yet it weighed not a pennyweight more. It was bought on the morn of the day that he was born and was always his pleasure and pride - but it stopped short never to go again when the old man died.") I've always like it.

Tim & I used to argue over space on shelving for cards! But we used to have a joint family get-together (especially when our Gran was alive as she was half way between the 2 of us). Since then we have always met at some point between the 2 dates, to celebrate ... even if one year it was just a case of a cup of tea at a cafe locally!

Yes, I do know the song. from the time one of them came into our hands it was always wound by Dad ... but it did always stop (for no reason) when there was a death in the family. Which is super odd ... and did worry me when it stopped last year - but now we are all OK, so obviously that no longer holds!!!!!
