Screen-Capture Software Recommendation Request

By any chance, does anyone know of any free, safe and reliable software for making screen captures from streaming video? The Peregrine nest I watch has a new FalconCam that streams video instead of taking a still shot at two minute intervals. I want to continue to be able to take screen captures of nest activity. If you're using a PC, hit Ctrl-Print Screen at the moment you want to capture. It's a built-in function, no software needed. (The "print screen" key is generally at the upper right of your keyboard.)

There's a similar function on Macs, but I've forgotten the keystroke.

Thanks - I do know the Print Screen key method, and I'll use it as a last resort. The problem I have with it is the number of steps involved for each snap-shot I take. Each time I print the screen I have to paste it into Paint, select the FalconCam portion of the screen print, copy it, paste the cropped image onto a new, blank Paint screen, and then save that to the designated folder on my hard-drive. When significant nest activity is happening I won't be able to take snapshots in quick succession, if I need to. So, I'm hoping to find free software that will let me save snapshots from the streaming video with just a click or two ( ... )
