It's tasty! And it seemed to go down pretty well. Although it's not like a guest is ever going to screw up their face and go 'Blergh', but nearly all of it went. Let me know how it goes!

Thank you! Fairly quiet day really, though I've had some nice presents (money & toiletries from Mum, my sister sent a small cheque & I'm getting a pyrographed plaque as well - my niece's artwork, and pyrographed by her!; a knitting pattern for the Cloisonne mitts from a friend; an Amazon voucher, and lunch in a cafe yesterday, from another friend), and have made Herman the sourdough friendship cake.

Sounds lovely! What is pyrographing? Some kind of fire-based artistic technique, I'm guessing? It certainly sounds neat!

Pyrography is burning pictures into wood (or leather) with a special iron - used to be a poker or other metal implement heated in a flame/fire, but nowadays there are electric things - I had a go at it a few years ago at a craft fair, and did a butterfly coaster for myself and a dragon for Mum. Great fun, but a bit pricey for the equipment - my sister's father-in-law does it and helped my niece to buy her kit. (I went to Hobbycraft on Saturday and they had basic kits for about £45.)

Yes, but it's the pomegranate too. The 'apple' in Genesis was actually a pomegranate. (Actual apples not being common in the Middle East.) Figs are definitely the... happier version.
