YOU ARE THERE RIGHT NOW! AND I AM NOT! SAAAADFACE.
I don't even know why I didn't ship them to begin with? Looking back no it, THEY ARE DEVOTED TO EACH OTHER AND SAVE EACH OTHER OFTEN AND ARE BOTH REALLY HOT. What was stopping me?
Well, as I said, I am not as omgomgomgomgomgomgJackSparrow as the rest of the world. I love him, but his storyline doesn't interest me nearly as much as Will or Elizabeth's, so I was happy with how it went down. :)
And no, you are not the only one who thought it was bad. Trust me.
I actually thought they went TOO epic with it... got sidetracked by Jack in the second movie, had to put all this junk about a pirates brethren and sealing a goddess and Jack coming back from the dead... to get back to the REAL story. That was silly. Davy Jones is enough magic and mysticalism. But they got there in the end! This story is about Will, and to a lesser extent, Elizabeth. It's about him going from this naive young blacksmith to a man who knows the world is hard and can deal with that. A lot darker than I expected from Disney, but definitely in a good way!
Buuut the epic brought me Captain Turner, King of Pirates/Captain Turner of the Flying Dutchman. I cannot say no. <333
and really I am a sucker for the epic in general, and I think it contributed a lot to Elizabeth's character, and I think the movies are very much about her, as well.
Though yes, I am so with you re: sidetracked by Jack in DMC. Maybe that's why I was less keen on it, as I have a general apathy towards his character in general (unless he is being bff with Will!)
nono, I loved Captain Turner of the Flying Dutchman!! I was actually talking about the whole goddess subplot... i didn't mind her as a character, but ehh. Then she just got all huge and weird and disappeared at the end...
I was really surprised by Elizabeth's character arc... it was a good one. =)
oh, I definitely agree that the Tia Dalma/Davy Jones things were executed pretty badly, but I guess it was necessary for Captain Turner of the Flying Dutchman, I suppose.
Oh, definitely. I enjoyed her so much in these movies.
I think I have formulated fanon where Norrington joins Captain Turner's undead crew. the idea will heal me.

The visual effects and the score (except for the electril guitars, wtf) were amazing though.
