square pegs and marathons

after the half marathon on saturday, i booked myself an hour long deep tissue massage (which i highly recommend). In the lobby of the "spa" (use that word loosely) to which i had walked in very slowly, a man told me that he would never understand why people do "those things". Congrats on your win! Isn't it a great feeling when you cross that finish line? I keep telling myself I'll do another, but it's the whole training thing that keeps holding me back. But if others can do what they do...

aw, franklin! the words that describe my love for you: cheese grits.
you should know, they're my favorite. they go well by themselves or on a buffet! they are a staple, a comfort, and warm through and through. cheese grits are like my love for you!!!!

now, every trip to urban standard without a surprize visit from you is just not the same...

That reminds me of my favorite line from the TNT made-for-TV movie Rough Riders, about a young, very enthusiastic Teddy Roosevelt and the Spanish-American War.

"My mother was a fine Southern woman, she made us grits for breakfast every morning. If we were especially good she made us CHEESE grits!"
