Yes, Hermione really does act as though Harry is going to turn abusive at any moment all the way through this book. The film version of DH supported the Harmony shippers to a certain extent, but the book version certainly does not. Personally, I think Hermione ought to be paired up with a nice muggle playwright whom she meets when she’s in her early thirties.
And according to Book One, Harry does know how to cook, at least a basic British fry-up breakfast. So why isn’t he out in the kitchen, plying the skills that Petunia drilled into his head? No, Harry can’t cook or clean: not only is he a Chosen One, he lacks the necessary female gonads. Nobody can cook or clean without ovaries.
In the Phoenix Trilogy fanfic by Grangerous, Ron asks Molly to teach him how to cook once things settle down after the Final Battle, because he decides that if he ever has to go camping and live on mushrooms again, he wants them to taste the way his mother makes them.
Ron: Harry! Stop talking about my sister being tortured!
Another reason the DE are incompetent villains.
They must realize Ron is with Harry. Ron's little sister is at the school they control. Why don't they go on the Wizarding Wireless and the Daily Prophet letting Ron know what a horrible fate awaits his sister unless Ron turns in Harry?
