Why because she's a girl. I'm sure you're familiar with the saying that a woman has to be twice as good as a man to earn half what he does. This is the author's voice admitting she agrees with undervaluing women, whether she's willing to admit it or not.

That scene of throwing food to me felt like salting Molly's wounds.

Even if you want to believe Percy is evil, throwing food at him to make him leave is going to upset Molly. She's been desperate to talk to him, and has gotten her chance.

And now they ruined it. I know, it will be argued that Percy was likely nasty and earned it, but Molly clearly was sobbing and upset and didn't feel like the twins and Ginny had avenged her honor.

And Riddle is a terrible villain. Seriously.

Quote Ron: Why have you decided to call me Won-Won?

I really am surprised that more is not made of this to imply Lavender will turn evil. This is our third female who acts childish and the other two (Umbridge and Bella) are definitely considered 'bad', What does it say about little girls and supposed sex appeal? At least it implies that JKR doesn't like the connection.

I suppose Lavender, being a Gryffindor, makes her baby talk the exception to women who act/dress girlish being evil and instead merely 'yucky'

I thought the Lavender/Ron thing was the most believable of the romances in the books. Just the sort of doomed relationship you see at that age.
