Jason had had a far less traumatizing weekend than Nico, even with Bruce in town. It had been surprisingly nice to have Bruce around - at least, when Jason didn't mention Nico. Bruce said they'd met, but that was it, and not knowing what had happened was driving him crazy. The fact that he made it until after class before going and knocking on Nico's door was a miracle.
Nico shrugged. "Maybe. I don't like people messing with you, especially since it didn't sound from your story like there were any consequences for them."
"Well, no. Everyone snapped out of their stupidity, so they're all better now," Jason said. "But that was it." Now that he thought about it, that wasn't really fair at all.
"I know, it's not fair, and I've been plenty angry about it." When his anger wouldn't affect Nico and freeze the room, of course. "I'll be fine in a few weeks," Jason said, purely reassuring Nico now. "Maybe you can even help me then, to get my strength back."
Nico knew empty reassurance when he heard it. That didn't mean he appreciated it less. "You say maybe, I say definitely. And I'm sorry about getting angry before. I know it's all awkward and cold, but I'm trying to control it."
"It's okay," Jason said, smiling softly at Nico. "I like it when you get angry on my behalf. I'm not used to people being on my side all the time like you are. Plus, you're kind of hot when you're all angry. Um, you know, metaphorically speaking."
Nico couldn't help the little nagging thought that Bruce should be on Jason's side all the time, too, but he had his own overly complicated parental relationship and it wasn't his place.
"Hot? I usually hear 'scary' and 'manic' and other words that I never thought would be...attractive to someone." But then, Jason was special.
"I guess hot's better than freaky," Nico said, smirking a little at Jason. "Just in case this getting beat up thing is regular, I should warn you that it might be hard to stop me from getting angry on your behalf. It seems to come with that whole caring thing." Shh.
"I'll leave the parts where I get beaten up out of my crime fighting stories then," Jason said, only half teasing. "I care about you too. That's why I don't like hearing about you getting cursed."
"You'd better not," Nico said, looking worried about that. "I don't want to start skipping things. If you're afraid to tell me stuff or whatever, that's not cool. I'll get better at controlling it."
"I'm not afraid to tell you stuff. I just don't want to upset you," Jason said. "If I get hurt at home and I'm fine by the time I get back, what does it matter? You can't mess with anyone from home, no matter how much I might want you to. So, I'm just getting you mad for no reason. That doesn't seem fair."
"Yeah, I know. It seems weird to me too now that I'm saying it out loud. And I don't want you to not tell me stuff either, even though I have even less of a chance of getting my anger out on people from your world than you do for my world," Jason said. He was probably never going to even get to meet Hades, let alone glare at him for treating Nico so poorly.
"Well, to be fair, the gods that cursed me aren't actually from my world, but they're all the same," Nico informed him. "They were more pissed that either I was likely to give information I shouldn't or just generally pissed that I exist at all. Besides, you don't want to go to my world."
