Clark looks a little disturbed today, having come straight here from Seattle, and a new Zoner attack. He doesn't sit down in his usual spot, choosing instead to slowly pace around the room. "There's an old saying, 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'. Do you believe it?"

"Welllllll sometimes. It goes both ways. Some folks believe 'the friend of my enemy is my enemy.' Maybe it'd be more appropriate to say 'the enemy of my enemy is my temporary ally'."

"How temporary, that's the question." He does think that's a practical way of looking at it.

"I think you can depend on it working long enough to get the job done. Or... if movies are anything to go by, right before the job is done. If you have the right kind of relationship, you can be all, 'Hey, dude, don't stab me in the back at the end of this, that's stupid'."

"...funny you should put it quite like that. Though in my case it was more of... a partnership lasting all of thirty seconds before he flew off."

Connor frowns a little, and Clark shouldn't be at all surprised his answer is along cautious lines. "No. They might be a temporary ally, but I still wouldn't turn my back on them."

Clark isn't surprised indeed, and he's actually thinking along similar lines. "Yeah. It's... a lot harder when you don't know who it is either."

He raises an eyebrow, slightly curious. "Have they made some kind of move to work with you?"

"Sort of." Clark fidgets a little, not quite sure how to describe it. "I ran into a Zoner who was stronger than me. Was ready to kill me. Whoever this new guy is, killed him first. I didn't get the chance to talk to him, or get a good look at him."
