I know this is a statement of the obvious, but the election system is this country is one strange beast. I guess the bright side is that the country doesn't erupt into violence every time we have one, although it probably should

When I heard about the violence in Kenya I was torn between feeling horrified for them that they got violent and feeling horrified for us when we were in the exact same situation and DIDN'T.

Yes. I often wonder what it would take for us to get passionate about something in this country. Maybe if they, I don't know, closed all the malls or something. Wars and fraudulent elections apparenlty don't cut it.
