I know this is a statement of the obvious, but the election system is this country is one strange beast. I guess the bright side is that the country doesn't erupt into violence every time we have one, although it probably should.

Today is one of those 13 hour work days I occasionally have. Once it's over, though, I get to cross a bunch of things off of my January To-Do list. Well, three. Three things.

If my brain would fire up sometime soon, that would be a big help. I've been pretty productive for the last couple of days, despite it being January. I don't want to lose that momentum, but it's so damn cold! My brain feels just like the gear shift in my car: sluggish and unwilling to budge until the temperature rises at least 10 degrees. At least today I do not have to wear my jacket indoors, like I did yesterday. Given that my workplace is closed to the public for the month, the heat is being lowered to conserve energy and money. Mostly money. Since it was only about 9 degrees out yesterday, even my little portable heater, constantly running, couldn't combat the cold. Today it's going to be 15 or 20 degrees. Ever-so-much better.

Ah, January.
