Splash & Fun outside of San Gwann

Characters fall into three separate areas across a popular water park just east of a forbidden zone.

The first area characters may arrive is into an indoor standing pool enclosed by a caged glass pavilion. The pavilion is provided with a concessions stand, a pool-side bar, and an abandoned band set on stage.

[She crashed into the ground, the pain running up her spine. Whimpering she sat up onto her knees as she rubbed her lower back. What the hell just happened? A mere second ago she was about to tough a small radio and now suddenly she was...

In a tunnel? This wasn't right at all. The smell was vile and the pipes around her dripped strangely colored water.]

Where... where am I?

[Naturally, he landed on his ass, and hard. The smell that assaulted his senses a split-second later, however, was powerful enough to overwhelm the pain, so much so that for a moment he couldn’t move for the shock of it all.

Only a moment, though, and then Mello was slowly rolling to push himself up onto his hands and knees, nose burning, eyes streaming. Pain lanced up his spine, and he groaned, biting his lip to muffle the sound. A few panting breaths later, and he was able to force his eyes open.

He wasn’t surprised to see drying blood under his hands. He was familiar with the smell of rotting flesh -- lamentably so -- but never in such.. magnitude. Mello lifted his head slowly, then gagged as his stomach rolled in response to the mess that greeted him. At the first sign of movement, his gun was in his hand, and he struggled to level it at the figure, squinting.]

Who are you.

[If he had been there before, she hadn't noticed him and the gun pointing at her was making her terrified. What was she supposed to say in a situation like this, all she wanted to do was panic and try to run. Does he know what's going on, or was he like her?

But she recognised the bodies around them, these weren't people, it was them.]

I- I'm not one of them! Actually, I can't even fire a gun! Please, don't shoot me!

[After a moment more of glaring at her suspiciously, Mello lowered his gun, using both hands to push himself back onto his haunches and.. resumed glaring at her suspiciously.]

What do you mean, them?

[One minute, Griffin was outside of his Lair in Egypt, digging out his motorcycle from the sand and wondering who the hell left their underwear there, and the next he felt like he was being thrown from the top of a building. He hated when that happened. He landed face-first. Griffin groaned for a moment, but then cut himself off. What if it had been some kind of trap set by the Paladins? He leapt to his feet, his bat in his hand. He had the foresight to grab it as he had been jerked away. After a few moments when no one attacked, Griffin clambered out of the pool.]

Hey! What's the big idea?

[A man in what looks like a black costume complete with a mask has just landed in the shallow end with a splash. He pushes himself up, rubbing his jaw, but does it without a sound. A quick scan of the area brings Griffin into sight, and Black Bolt watches him warily. A human. He rises to his feet, a distinct look of what now? crossing his half masked face.]

[From his perch high above the pavilion floor, Black Star scoffed and laughed at the newcomers, though he kept a knife at the ready in one hand.

One minute he'd secured a perfect roost for scoping things out, the next some guys comes flying into the pool--one swinging a bat. He had to be close to Baba Yaga's, at least.]

What a weird entrance.

Hey! Who're you guys with? You sure don't look like Shibusen. Locals?

[Griffin whips around quickly when from nowhere, he is joined by someone else. Well, the other guy isn't a Jumper. Griffin would have felt it. In fact...

Why can't he Jump?

Griffin stands there for a minute, trying to teleport back home. Nothing. He turns to the new guy and he does not look happy. Griffin swings the bat by his side.]

Don't tell me you guys wear masks now. I thought you lot couldn't get any more retarded.

[And if anyone qualifies as the superheros in the Jumpers vs. Paladins war, since Griffin thinks this guy is an enemy, it's obviously the Jumpers. But Griffin lacks the time to think about that analogy, since someone else approaches. He positions himself so he can look at both of them.]

I'm not with this git. Not with anyone. Who the hell are you and what the hell just happened?

[Instead of solid ground, there is a shallow pool of water--and instead of his brother's body, there is the corpse of a partially decomposed man staring him in the face. Sucking in a breath, he jerks away, groping around for his sword and dragging it close. He's in the bath house, surrounded by corpses. It takes a moment for him to gather his composure, to force his shocked limbs into movement, and he starts exploring the area, alert and somewhat twitchy.]

[Alex is just. Leaning outside against the front door of the bathhouse like a cool customer, arms crossed and everything. He's already explored enough of the area and figured out his powers seem... drained, so he can't simply fly out of where he is.

Wherever here is. No place he's seen before.

Regardless, there's life. There's someone walking around in the building behind him; he can hear them. Sense them, almost. Even without his viral strength he's still hyperalert.

But he doesn't make any move to acknowledge it. Not yet. Figure out what it is, react accordingly. Don't give yourself away to something that might be a threat.]

[Sasuke detects movement near the doorway and feels the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. Sharingan is the first semi-whispered word that leaves his lips, but it does nothing. It makes sense; he'd all but drained himself of Chakra during the battle with Itachi, but-- That doesn't make it any less alarming.

So he grips his sword more tightly, swinging around the corner and pointing it at the man standing there.]

Who are you?

[Even if he wasn't able to see the sword, he could definitely feel its presence. Sharp metal object heading his way. The only reaction he had was something quick, first attempting to knock the sword from the stranger's grasp and then flipping himself backwards, landing like a cat.

Alex glances up from near the ground. This person... this human. They appear young. Teenage. Doesn't quell his suspicion. When he speaks, it's low, almost threatening.]

You first.

[Black Bolt has made his way to the bathhouse by now, and stands just inside the doorway. It's a level of destruction that's not exactly new to him, but there's something... odd about the corpses of some of those humans. He studies them with a thoughtful frown, calm gaze sweeping the scene.]

OH MY GOD WHY AM I SUCH A FAILURE /SOB undiminishing July 19 2010, 08:02:50 UTC
[So. He'd suddenly been whipped up into a spontaneous hurricane just as he was about to read that letter in a bottle and fallen into darkness. Nothing new there. Somehow though he doubts that this is the Darkness darkness; it reeks something awful and the oppressive atmosphere was all kinds of different from the bleakness and... pure lack of existence that he'd fought. Here there was tons of stuff going on. Putrid smells and something not-quite-soft that he's lying on which in the dim light sorta looks like a

person.]

[Sora gasps, inhaling one great big lungful of horrible putridity before stumbling backwards and hitting a wall greasy with blood and god knows what. He shivers and wipes his hands on his pants before pinching his nose to block out the stench.]

[It takes him a moment to notice the man bending over one of them, sure that his flailing had probably caught his attention by now.] A-Ah! Hey, you!

IT'S OKAY, I FORGIVE YOU. MOSTLY. boltalicious July 19 2010, 08:49:59 UTC
[He is, of course, aware of that second presence as soon as it becomes a second presence. He's straightened again to glance over and wait patiently for the kid -- because it is just a kid, isn't it? -- to get his bearings. He'll nod in greeting once Sora has spotted him and then, because the smell really isn't something to want to hang around for very long, makes a beckoning gesture and starts for the door just behind him.]

[He understands the motion and complies pretty much immediately, keen to breathe air that wasn't so thick he can taste the decay.]

Hey, what are you doing here? [He quizzes the man while skipping over arms and legs and trying not to trip. It doesn't occur to him that the man was responsible for all the corpses piled up here. These things had obviously been here a while and if the man was, well, he'd already be joining them by now, right?]

Do you know what happened? And where is this place, anyway?

[ meet: sherlock holmes. one fit, aging 19th century man who was born to take things in stride.

to dwell on the matter is to waste. for, as you know, time is the only commodity that money will never buy and of which man will never have enough. to fret is to expend; to fear is to distract.

the first concern is always "where." thus:

we find ourselves in a technologically advanced ( refinedly wasteful use of electricity through lighting ), manmade, recently-abandoned ( machinery: still operational despite lack of current upkeep ) establishment sealed underground ( non-existent air current ) for the purpose of water process ( with the sound of running water through piping ). also the site of animalistic, grisly death ( artlessly splattered blood ) and decomposition ( with the pungent smell of rot ). ]

[ he mutters: ] What a lovely tomb.

[ revolver in hand, holmes makes his way along the tunnels, following the sound of the water. however, he pauses--a pool of thick liquid thinning out across the flooring ( ... )

[Being stuck in a tunnel alone with Alex Mercer will generally not end well, but he's being exceptionally cautious at the moment. Despite the rank odor, the claustrophobic feeling, and not being able to see very well, Alex feels a bit safe down here. The viral part of him, anyway. It's dark(ish) and uninhabited and probably a good hiding spot until he can figure out what the hell he's going to do.

But... it's not really uninhabited.

Not yet, anyway.

Hearing footsteps ahead and a man's voice, Alex freezes momentarily. He steels himself for confrontation before following the sounds, being fairly quiet as he does.]

[ fascinated by the substance before him ( the sound of a quiet, yet distinct footstep from behind ), holmes spends his time with leisure.

he sets down the revolver ( quiet breathing, most likely not belonging to that of-- ), taking the time to take a vial out of his pocket. with a loud pop ( --the supposed attacker-- ), he uncorks the vial and scoops up some of the liquid ( --which is far too rabid to lie in wait-- ), as the tinkling of glass echoes throughout the chamber ( --judging from the haphazard streaks of blood and irregular footsteps-- ). after a few minutes, he pockets the vial ( --that lead up to this pool ). his immersion in his work is uncanny.

with that, he stands up and brushes off his coat. he is about to leave, when he realizes that he has left his gun on the floor. ]

--ah.

[ he bends down to pick it up, and as he does so, accidentally ( lure the creature out with sound or further inquire into the reasoning to hide ) shoots the ground. he jumps back a bit and drops the gun again. ]

HOW DO I READ DESCRIPTIONS whipfist July 18 2010, 04:43:11 UTC
[Now the stranger is in view. Alex doesn't exactly have a place to hide, but he's peering from around one of the man-made bends of the tunnel, which could conceal him if he's quick. Maybe.

He starts unintentionally as the gun goes off, condensed and echoing in the cylinder around them. But nothing more; now he's just staring. Whoever this is, they don't look terribly threatening, but he's still wary. Perhaps he's one of the scientists.

Alex takes a step forward. If the guy decides to shoot, he should be able to take it. He speaks up to catch his attention.]

Hey.
