It's actually even worse than I was expecting. I mean, even most of the commenters to that article are appalled.

Now you all know white kids are the only ones who can practice martial arts and act on screen. Asian kids have always been inferior to white kids in this respect and black /indian kids even more so. If the man behind incredible works of art such as The Happening and Lady In The Water can see this, why can't y'all...?

Thank you for posting these. Through the red haze that has descended over my vision, I am nevertheless glad to know, once and for all, that M Knight is a total sellout.

I'm sure it's just because there are no good Asian actors out there. Right? Really. Honest. Not one Asian actor to be found in all of Hollywood. And certainly none anywhere else in the world.
Besides, if they cast it with real Asians, American audiences wouldn't go see the movie. You know, like how we didn't go see Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or any of those other Asian fantasy/adventure movies.
*ugh*

And certainly none who could do Asian martial arts action type stuff. Nope. Not a one.

Duh! Didn't people learn when Goku was cast as a white dude in Dragonball Z?

(Or those Three Ninjas movies? I mean, really. I understood how the grandfather was married to a white woman, and their half-Asian daughter married a white man, but STILL.)

But look, they got the *eye colors* to match! Clearly they're trying really really hard to be true to the story and its world ... ;P

Let's look forward to bonus rage inducers: Maybe all the kids get brownfaced, their eyes digitally altered to match the shape, AND a "me-so-sowee" accents to make full win.

A part of me keep imagining that the girl, in a fit of needing to please the fan, undergoes WEEKS of tanning before the shoot and shows up with a more appropriate skin tone, to the absolute horror of the studio.

It amuses me.
