I don't even hate River either (how can you possibly hate anyone on this show anyway) but she's the only character that has significantly changed in my mind

I think what saved River was the "mercy" scene (which should NOT be confused with the Twitch/Katee dance, even if I do it frequently) and the pure steel in her voice.
