I finally went to see the Sherlock Holmes movie today, by myself, at 1:00 in the afternoon.

I've been trying to decide if I should try to see this one in the the theater or simply wait for DVD. I'm not the big Holmes fan like the rest of you - my knowledge of canon is next to nil - so I figured the variations wouldn't bother me. Still, when I've had opportunity to actually go watch a movie I haven't felt all that stirred to see it.

Re: Lestrade - as I said, his characterization was my favorite in this movie. When we got to the scene where he handed Holmes over to the bad guy, I was thinking, "they're making him part of the bad secret organization? errr...." but when the reveal came, I switched to "Oh, perfect!"

Is Constable Clark in canon? I never did find out.

I must admit you're making me really interested in Nero Wolfe. I've never actually read any of them. I'm going on a trip soon and don't want to lug around any hardbacks so perhaps I'll see if I can snag a bunch of used NW paperbacks to take.
