Worry worry worry worry [Actor's Quarters, Open]

De had not been checking his messages constantly (honestly) despite having very little else to do. There had been the whole matter of meeting the sentient bra that had taken up some time, and taken his mind off his boredom and the fact that Christine had not yet replied to his message, tinted as that whole experience had been by De's worry over Len and Bill and the evident tension between them that had resulted in them disappearing for a long and probably serious sounding conversation.

Still, he checked his messages now, and felt a knot of worry tighten in his stomach when there was still no message. Either she wasn't back on board the ship, but she should have been, she had said the mission would only take a few days, and it had been more than that, surely she should have been back by now? Which meant that the mission had taken longer than it should have done, or, De's mind helpfully supplied, something had gone wrong. This was space after all, and it was all real and dangerous and scary, and God, anything could go wrong.

Or...she was back and didn't want to message him. If she was back, she must have received his message, and so therefore, she must not want to see him. De's mind was also being decidedly unhelpful in providing this suggestion, but it made sense to De, to that part of his mind that lurked there whispering why would anyone want to spend time with you, so dull, no fun, just sadness and depression and old lost memories, why, no one would want to spend time with you unless they had to, would they, why should Christine be any different, she's only spending time with you because she has to, you know, as part of her job, because you're ill, and can't deal with things yourself, De, because you can't cope, you can't cope and you know it, so why would anyone want to spend time with you?

"...no," De murmured to himself, forcing his thoughts back to the first scenario, and rubbing his face. "No. She must still be on the mission, they must be delayed." He tried to convince himself of this, typing out another message quickly, just in case.

Christine,

I was just wondering if you received my last message? If you are too busy or anything to drop by, you just have to say. I'll understand. Otherwise, I hope you are well,

De.

There. Sent. He would give it a bit longer, he decided, before asking Len and Bill what they thought. That was better than sitting there just thinking all those things in his own mind. Len and Bill would think sensibly about it, he was sure. They would know what to do.
