OOC: Atsuro's route AU details

Nov 29, 2000 12:47

Originally planned for the smtdressingroom but various events and developments made it unlikely to happen. Used for an AU experiment in luceti .

NOTE: This AU was planned before Overclock. Details of Atsuro's route's 8th Day may or may not be incorporated once the game's out.

Out of all the plans, what happened if he pursued Atsuro's plan of action?

Unlike his 'original' world, Kouki didn't get the information needed for Gin in time, leaving him with one choice short. Midori, Keisuke and Mari was alive, saved from their Laplace Mail predicted death, and he had gotten to know them while their group was busy preparing themselves.

When it's time for him to make his choice, there was a major deciding factor behind his decision on the plans proposed to him.

A chance of a normal life for them all, especially Yuzu.

To be a Messiah means people may live in fear of God. This 'peace' unsettles him, as he listens to Amane and the angels, along with other reasons Kouki wasn't aware of until afterward, with a moment of peaceful solitude, when he can think without pressure.

To wage war against God as the King means humanity would be caught in the fighting between angels and demons, as well as collateral damages. Position of neutrality would eventually breaks and people would have to choose sides. Kouki does not wish for his closest friends to experience this, knowing that Atsuro would stick by him, regardless. But Yuzu...

He weighed the pros and cons of Atsuro's plan. Effectively enslaving an entire race just to boost human society. But it's the closest to returning to normal life he can see. It also means trusting the government with the demons and not to be corrupted.

After altering Babel, he gave the government a single warning, using Izuna and Fushimi as his messengers, before handing over the control. Abuse this privilege and the ordeal returns.

The lockdown's over. The demons was no longer a threat to them. They can go home and live life normally...but do they?

The Bels' anger over his choice, turning down the Throne of Bel and not killing God, was great. Without Babel under his control as it should be, Kouki's not a proper King. Their demonic influences threatened his sense of self and his sanity. During those brief moments of losing control, he almost lashed out at his friends, especially Atsuro, for the idea, and Yuzu, seen as a pathetic human for Kouki to be fond of by the Bels. The worse he had done was almost strangling Atsuro, before Kouki returned to his senses, horrified. Kouki almost struck Yuzu, but he always regained his senses back in time.

But it's getting harder and harder to do so.

Afraid and fearful for their safety, he turned to Naoya, his cousin who knew a lot about demons, to help him with controlling his powers. As Naoya helped out his dear cousin, the government, or the sections that's aware of him, watched him carefully while they used the demons in the military and international politics. Kouki may possibly take back the demons from them, or maybe not. Do they dare risk it?

Even with Naoya's help, the Bels remain undaunted and continued affecting Kouki's mind. He's a pathetic King, they should be in control and they will take back Babel. The lands shall be wasted, the humans slaughtered and God will be killed for their vengeance.

All they need to do was to break Kouki or have him submit.

RELATIONSHIPS

Naoya - Trust. Reliant. He really, really appreciates Naoya's help in controlling the Bels. Because of this, he's a little more receptive of listening to his cousin.

The Bels was wary of him, despite having similiar goals of seeking vengeance on God.

Atsuro - Best friend. Afraid for him. Atsuro continue to risk his safety to support Kouki, knowing and fearing the Bels' anger at him.

They are angry at Atsuro, the human who's responsible for the idea to give away Babel, and seeks his pain and destruction. The only thing that surpassed their anger is their hatred for God.

Yuzu - Best friend. Romantic interest. Afraid for her. Kouki has grown closer to her, but when the Bels started vying for control, he refrains from officially asking her out.

She's seen as a pathetic human the human Bel is fond of, and would like to take pleasure from hurting her. Out of 'consideration' for Kouki, they suggests keeping her as his 'pet'.
