Everything was just so lovely!
Mother wore a pretty new gown she’d blushingly confessed to them was a gift from Father, and they’d hardly stopped dancing all night! Grandmother wasn’t dancing, but she was watching the festivities quietly with a smile on the face, talking occasionally with a small circle of dignified older ladies. He fancied she looked like a queen holding court wearing her kimono and traditional Japanese hairstyle; it set her apart from all the other ladies! When she happened to glance his way, he bowed gallantly and so missed the amused shake of the head he earned for his efforts.
Spinning away from the sidelines moments later with the tenth lovely young lady this evening in his arms he caught a glance of Kyoyua’s indulgent smile - if he were being honest, let his eyes rove his friend’s slim form in that tailored navy nehru suit a little longer than to simply admire the aesthetic contrast of milky skin and darkest material or to note the secret curve of pink lips that had started to cause his heart to miss a beat - and felt his own grin double in response.
