banerrySubject: Azula, Issei Ryudo
Table: C
Prompt: 012- Contempt
It had happened again, but this time, he was ready.
"Azula (peoplesprincess) replied to a LiveJournal post in which Issei (ewwgirls) said..." may have once been a phrase that would have inspired annoyance and dread, but no longer. This time, he wasn't giving up. He wasn't backing down.
He was going to piss Azula off.
Her reply was innocent enough: "You're one of the oldest members by now, aren't you?", on his entry about yet another DDD anniversary. Issei's lips curled into a slight smile. He knew just the comeback.
"Yes. Unfortunately, that means I've had to deal with you for almost my entire time here," was what he thought.
"Yes. I've been here four years as of today," was what he typed. He hit "submit", and was instantly horrified with himself. What had happened to pissing her off? To provoking? To finally telling her what he really thought of her?
Oh, well. He'd just have to try harder next time.
Azula's reply came quickly: "And the viruses haven't driven you insane yet? That's impressive." Excellent; another response that could easily lead into an insult.
"What's impressive is that I've managed to keep myself from snapping and doing you bodily harm," was what he thought.
"Let's hope they don't anytime soon. I like having a working brain," was what he typed.
Good god, what was wrong with him?!
Obviously, this wasn't working out as he had hoped. He wanted to light into Azula with the full force of his anger and dislike, but every time he tried to, something polite and innocuous came out instead.
He decided to give himself one more try. Hopefully, her next response would be something he could work with.
"I'd imagine most people do-- though on the community, it's clear that there are many on whom this place has taken their toll."
Yes! Yes!
"While we're on the topic of people without working brains, Azula, I think we should talk about you," was what he gleefully thought. "You're smug, self-centered, and hypocritical, and you're guilty of most of the things you complain about in other people. You're quick to anger, and you're quick to condemn others for their feelings. You think you're the authority on everything. You've committed atrocious acts in the past, and you've never expressed remorse for any of them. You've hurt my friends. I know this might be a lot to take in, but I didn't think it would be right to have a conversation about stupid people on the community without at least bringing you up. You're a drain on this place, and the day you leave will be the happiest day of my life."
"I know what you mean. There are certainly people here whose mental processes leave a bit to be desired," was what he typed.
Issei logged off, shut down his computer, and wept.
