Return of the Away Team, Rescue Complete?

The message came in from the bridge, and Bones jumped, even though he'd been waiting for it ever since he'd woken up.

Away team, beaming straight to sick bay.Everyone had been notified about the away team's departure while he was unconscious, and they had assembled in sickbay. Now turning to look at them, he took a deep breath and nodded

They were back. They were back, and Chris was still worried as hell - why had Chapel only mentioned George and Jim in her message? What about the others? And those annoyingly vague terms medical professionals liked to toss around, severe injuries, responding well to treatment ... he'd once badly broken a leg, a 'severe' injury, 'responded well' to treatment and had healed perfectly. He'd also undergone 'severe' torture, 'responded well' then, too, and would probably never walk unaided again.

He wanted something more concrete, but he was going to have to wait for it. So wait he did, leaning with Winona against the bulkhead across from the closed medbay doors, her chilly right hand clasped tightly in his left.

Winona took deep breaths, concentrating on the fact that they were alive in some way right now on the ship and not dead. Chris' hand felt warm, a comforting touch as she silently worried about just how bad everything really was.

"They'll be fine, right Chris?" She asked staring at the doors.

A nurse pulled Bones aside, letting him know about the two waiting outside. He took a deep breath and headed out of sickbay, thankful he had some good news to report. "Hey you two," he told them. "Cant see them just yet, but," he hesitated, then continued, "you can wait in my office if you want. Would be more comfortable," he added.

"I'm sure," said Chris carefully, "Nurse Chapel would have told us if they weren't." He squeezed her hand and forced a small smile. "The best doctors and nurses in Starfleet are behind those doors. They'll be okay, Win."
