After finishing
his conversation with George, Bones remained sitting down, listening to the waves, the birds flying overhead, and the wind blowing softly through the trees. He didn't spot another person, though. They were truly by themselves here

He hunched his shoulder, turning to go find the bedroom, when he caught a beautiful sight. Bones was laid out in a chair, book on his chest, asleep, caught in the last of the sun's rays. Kirk bit his lip, and ducked away only long enough to put his bag in the bedroom before coming back out.
He slowly sat down on the ground beside the chair, just laying his head on Bones' thigh. He didn't want to wake the doctor... Bones just looked to peaceful. Kirk closed his own eyes, ignoring his aching hands, and let himself drift slowly. Not quite asleep... just... resting.

The start of a beautiful friendship.
"Now, some would just call that bad intuition," he joked, his face settling into something more open and curious. "What about the other stuff though. I-"
Hesitating because he wasn't sure how to say it. "You knew what we had to do with the Romulans. I mean, everyone was saying one thing, but you knew what plan would work. Is that sort of what you mean?"

"...Yea. I didn't really think of it at the time, but when I had some time to actually THINK about it? It was. I knew we had to go after him. I mean, that was it. I just KNEW. It isn't like... a leap of faith, it isn't a known conclusion. I just know... sometimes... something has to be done.
Unfortunately, it doesn't really stop me from doing things I shouldn't."

It quickly settled into something casual, undisturbed. "I mean, all in all, things have a way of working out for you, wouldn't you say?"

"I dunno, not completely. I don't know if Spock's right, honestly, but... maybe he is."

A quiet moment passed, Bones looking deep in thought before he spoke again. "How did you find me down there?" he asked suddenly. He didn't explain what he was talking about - Jim would know.

"...luck." He whispered quietly. "Spock's tricorder, some dumb ass luck, and someone on the surface who decided to help us without even saying a word."

"I just wondered, maybe..." he laughed a little, "I guess your intuition's limited to saving your ass," he pushed his plate to the side, "which is why I should probably staying as close to you as I can."

"If I knew how to include everyone on the ship, I would. If I couldn't... I'd be happy knowing it could save your ass too. But..."
He hesitated, and said with a tiny smirk, "I'd be happy if you stuck close to my ass as well." To anyone else, it would have been a normal Kirk-perverted comment.
Meant a lot more then that.
...Meant the pervertness a little though.

"Glad to hear it," his voice dropped to a low growl. "Now finish," Leonard told Jim, pointing to his plate as he stood, taking his own to the kitchen.
He came back to the table with two more beers. "You need to see this beach up close, it's just amazing," he told him.

"Thanks." He accepted one of the beers and popped it open, taking a long swig. Fuck, it felt amazing. He eyed Bones over the bottle, may or may not have done a slightly lewd thing with his tongue as he finished, and raised his brows. "Yea? ..."
A hesitation, then carefully, "Well, you'll have to show me it."

"Yeah..." he nodded, catching Jim's eye as he took a long, deep drink himself, swallowing slowly. Setting the bottle on the table, his thumb ran slowly over the lip of the bottle while his hand gripped the neck, his eyes never leaving Jim's face.
"We'll go later, when you're done eating," he said slowly.

"...Lotta things I want to do later." Kirk rumbled low in the back of his throat, tugging a piece of steak off the fork with his teeth.
