Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones (and I will try to fix you...)

"Momma," Lenny crawled onto his mother's lap. "Daddy's crying."

She hugged him tight, the best hugs ever. "I know, sweetheart. He's very sad about his momma."

Lenny was sad too. "But - you said she was with granddad now." They were together again, that's what everyone told each other, all these people who were coming to the house to see Daddy.

"She is, pumpkin... but Daddy's sad because he won't see her for a long time."

"When we go up to heaven?" he asked, looking up at her. He knew that his old dog Lady and two hamsters were already there waiting for him. And now his grandparents.

"Yes, Lenny," Momma said, smoothing his hair. "We'll see her again, one day..."

"Doctor... Leonard?"

Leonard looked up from his thoughts. "I'm sorry, Chapel. What did you say?" he asked her, apologetic.

She smiled back at him. "I was just saying that some of us are getting together tonight to celebrate Geoff's birthday." Leaning against the doorway, she added, "Guinan's promised to make us all tequila sunrises. You and the captain are invited, of course."

A glance at the chronometer told him that it was past time for him to be heading to his room. "I'll ask him when I see him - and thank you," he told her, "for the invitation."

"If you don't mind me saying so, Leonard... you look like you might need a night of fun and relaxation."

"I could," he told her in all honesty. None of them knew about his illness yet, and he'd hoped to keep it that way a bit longer.

It wasn't a bad idea, but Leonard knew that as soon as he got into the room, kicked off his boots and lay down on the sofa, he would be hard-pressed to get his ass back up and dressed to go out.

Still, Leonard thought as he flopped down on the couch, if Jim wanted to go, they should go. Jim liked that sort of crew bonding experience, and right now, Leonard was doing what ever it took to make Jim happy.
