One of the medics was standing outside the surgical room, and from where she was standing Christine could see his face was full of worry. "Something's going on. I'll be right back," she told Geoff, waiting for another nurse to take her place at M'Benga's side.

One more worried glance at Leonard and she left the room. "Yes?" she asked Ken, the young medic.

"The captain is out here," he said, a little breathless. "He wants to know what is happening, and-" Ken stared back at the door leading to surgery. "He wants to know."

Christine cursed quietly to herself. Geoff wanted to speak with the captain, she knew that, but he had his hands full right now. "Let me go talk to him," she said, following him over to where Captain Kirk was waiting.
