The last time Bones had woken up alone had been during Kirk's capture by the Romulans. There had been times when he'd gone to sleep, Jim working late or something, only for Bones to find himself wrapped up in strong arms in the morning.
But this morning he'd woken up alone.
He didn't panic, although he asked the computer to locate the Captain (Captain Kirk is located the Officer's Lounge). Confused and a little hurt, he headed to Sickbay, checked again later, (Captain Kirk is located in his office.) and headed back to their room after his shift in a pretty bad mood.
