First off, I realise the... irony of posting a complaint about another social site on live journal, I also realise that Facebook is a system I’m not paying for and so I don’t have the right to complain really, HOWEVER, I’m still going to complain a little

BS. Of course you have the right to complain, just because it's free doesn't invalidate that. especially when you consider how much effort they have put in to persuading us to join their little league. It's all about custoemr service and response - how does LJ respond when it gets feedback from it's 'customers' for instance? as another free service. The truth is, there are a multitude of other social media people could use so Facebook does itself no favours by being an ass.
(Leaving aside the whole, it *is* a paid service because they sell advertising yada yada.)

FB users are not its customers. FB's customers are advertisers. FB's users are the product.

Remember that, and all their changes make sense - to FB and their customers.

I agree that the users are the product, but it makes no sense to lessen your product base by driving people away from your site.

I guess they take the risk that people will leave, versus the number who are signing up every day, versus those who SAY they will leave but don't, versus the increase in data mining revenue from the new systems they put in place.

Most of us with knowledge and appreciation of our privacy aren't putting much of value on FB anyway. Their true product are the millions of teens who share EVERYTHING. And their grandparents. :)

I'm not sure what other people are doing, because I am not having this issue. Ive just scanned my page and all the posts from ppl are in a reaonably chrono order. And yes ,I have the ticker so its the newer version of the page.

I have used Fb's new settings and ensured as many regular ppl as I could I hovered my mouse over "subscribe" and ensured "all updates" was selected (it defaults to "most updates" which is a bit wtf"

Frankly, I kind of like it. I can filter-down the people I'm sick of seeing in my feed who I've really only added out of politeness, though I should just defriend them, but the pathetic drama that ensues isnt worth it.

G+, it should be pointed out, also messes with the chronology of its feed. Any post that gets updated with new replies pops back up to the top of the feed. It also annoys me because the default is everyone Ive added to whatever circle, and I cant make my default feed one of my preferred circles - eg "friends".

You have always been able to remove peopels posts from your face book post by simply clicking on them and sayign you didnt want to see those posts any more. Infact I have a number of people I have / had already done that to.

Its a discussion about why meme goign around is not the answer.

Hmm. I havent used G+ enoughh to learn its tricks and traits. I guess Ijust start posting to Live Journal more.. or will that be DreamWdith :)

i like you can just block a users video post or game posts , and dont have to block them completley.

i also only have a few top stories which i usually deselect as a top story, cos i dont know how they choose but maybe it will stop some.

below those few top posts i get most post in order.
i see most people now, where before the change i was missing out on most bar about just the same 10 peoples posts on FB, and i couldnt work out how to make them show up.
its much easier now and better, and i like the groups, which avoisd the top posts if you view that way
