Romy is right beside her. Thanks to the Scarecrow, Romy knows her greatest fear, this isn't it. This is just pure adrenaline, and really helps push all her other worries to the side for the moment. Jim Gordon is a good cop, too good for things to end this way.

Driving is something you get good at when you spend years on a police force in a city like Gotham. Jim Gordon can dodge all manner of panicked drivers, find his way around an accident, weave through rush hour after a target like it's second nature. But the road is the one element always hardest to control in those situations. Icy pavement, slick corners, pot-holed sidestreets - none of the above yielded to lights and sirens.

Exploding bridges also fit the bill.

He scrambled to gun the engine, get himself a little further fromt he gap blown open in the bridge... and then the concrete beneath him starts to warmp and that's the end of that. He unbuckles his seatbelt as fast as he can manage and launches himself out of the car, running for the nearest still-solid ground.

Renee scrambles to get to Jim, but a piece of rubble clips her head as it rains down from the sky, and she stumbles to her feet, bleeding.

"Get him!" she orders Romy, trying to get to her feet herself.

Romy races for it, bowling over one panicked person who gets in her way. She's sturdier than she looks, and not about to let Jim Gordon die in a bridge accident after all he's been through.
She gets clipped by more rubble, and has to dodge and weave her way through people heading for Gordon and trying to direct people as she goes.
