The White Martians have been released from the Phantom Zone. They have been freed, so they may seek their revenge on the Justice League.

Invisible, they hover over the city they have chosen: Coast City. The so-called "City Without Fear."

Today, they will learn to fear those they once thought of as their protectors.

One by one, they begin to

The first one transforms into an image of this city's own protector. He even can manage a green glow, akin to the shield of the Green Lantern.

He flies towards the city... and charges directly through the thirtieth story of an office building downtown.

ANother takes the form of the only remaining Green Martian, and begins randomly blasting at the people below with Martian vision.

Batman comes flying behind them. Yes, flying, and not just on the wind caught by his cloak.

Somebody hasn't been doing their homework.

And from out of nowhere comes the Flash. Though not quite fast enough to be the real Flash.

There's another problem. Because while he's merrily running around, punching people, this Flash is singing. The Flash Gordon song.

Apparently Batman's not the only one they didn't do their homework on.

The real Hal Jordan is on the scene in a flash. He begins blasting at the fake-him with energy beams.

"I don't know who you are... but this ends here!"

The alien shifts into a ghostly form, the first volley of energy sliding right through an incorporeal body which solidifies again in moments.

Now he is grinning and the expression twists Hal's face in a way it was never quite meant to. The teeth in that wide smile look like they're meant to bite off a hand.

"Your end might be here hero, but I'm not about to be disposed of so quickly."

The alien rushes the lantern, catching him around the waist, and charges toward the thirty-first story windows next...

Hal twists, throwing his doppelganger through first. He sees people dive for cover as they fly through, and he uses his ring to shift their phase... after the first window, they pass through everything harmlessly.

"Woah. We know who the fake one is... someone here needs some mouthwash!"

As they pass out on the other side of the building, Hal creates a massive toothbrush out of green energy. "Or at least a brushing!"

He shoves the martian towards the brush and swings it, hoping to slam his opponent like a baseball.

The martian is still reeling from being the first to crash through the glass and doesn't react fast enough to dodge the brush.

He is hammered off into the cement wall of another building, however he gathers his wits enough to melt into the impact.

For a few moments his entire form is a smear of white like someone has fired a giant paintball at the bricks, then he knits back together, regrouping like the liquid metal terminator, crouched on the side of the wall in Hal's form again.

He pushes off the surface and comes flying for the lantern, sprouting a handful of extra arms as he comes back within reach and grabbing for each of Hal's limbs all at once.

"You're beginning to aggravate me human!"

"Thank you, Green Lantern." She swaps the coms to another frequency. Time to mess with the bad guys heads a little. "Dibny to Miss Marvel."

The City Without Fear is under siege all right. He puts up a shield to protect some civilians from chucks of building falling to the pavement.

Red Tornado flies towards John, but his usual whirlwind of air around his legs seems to be missing... and he's flying in an angry charge.

He reinforces his hands and heads off that charge with one of his own.

The creature meets him midway. He's strong... almost as strong as Superman or Wonder Woman. Without the ring, John would be paste now.

He slams a fist into John's gut on close range.

Thunder teleports in to the top of a rooftop, getting a bird's eye view of what's going on before she accidentally attacks an ally.

Below on the street Superman is bursting out the front doors of a library, the entire inside of the building torn apart by martian vision.

If you're going to use ocular powers at least you should look like someone who actually HAS them. Surely destruction is it's own reward, but there's still something to be said for accurate imitation...

Superman's eyebeams, for example. They're red. HEAT vision.

Just like the burst that slams in the back of the Superman impersonator from behind as the Man of Steel swoops in, ready for action. "Not funny."

The martian shrieks in a way Superman surely never would as he's struck in the back, but the blow is not quite enough to keep him down.

That's the que to start to real party now isn't it?

Pushing off from the ground the martian flies up and across the street, gunning for the woman standing on the rooftop. He makes a grab for each of her limbs all at once, attempting to grab hold and pull her in front of his body.

Maybe with a civilian in the way Superman will have to get a little more selective with the heat-vision...
