Sleep will not come to this tired body now

Although Charlotte had taken to bouncing to all sorts of places in order to sleep, sometimes fighting crime along with Batwoman and/or training left her too tired to visualize a warm and comfortable place she could go to sleep. It was difficult being homeless, and she felt guilty when she had to take food. However, she reasoned that she was only ( Read more... )

The Batwoman glides silently over the city, keeping an eye out for problems. It's... different now. She can feel it. When she started this, she just wanted revenge on the criminals who had hurt her and her friends. Now... she felt she was making a difference. Even if Harley Quinn kept getting loose.

She glides low over the park, looking out for trouble. The homeless often use it for a place to sleep off the night, but thugs are known to attack them as easy prey: sometimes they just want someone to beat up on, sometimes they steal from them, and other times they do worse.

There... a group of four guys closing in on a form sleeping on a bench. That's no good... particularly when the sleeping form looks to be female.

She doesn't wait for them to get closer. She glides down from behind, hitting on with her glider square in the back while hitting another in the side with a kick as she slides past him.

The noise from the battle jolted Charlotte awake. She saw the remaining two that Batwoman hadn't taken out yet, and reacted automatically. It looked like they had every intention on jumping her while she was asleep.

"I can't believe you guys! Four guys against one girl, and the girl was sleeping. Talk about skeezy!"

If she'd been thinking a little more, she might not have been so quick to speak, or launch into action. Batwoman was there and could take care of everything. However, it wasn't in Charlotte's nature to stand back and let this kind of thing pass.

A spinning kick hit one of the two thugs in the face. If Batwoman was watching closely, the kicking style might look about as familiar as the freckled girl's voice sounded.

She recognizes her alright.

She reacts quickly, throwing a metal entangling-ball at the last one to wrap him head-to-toe in metal bands.

As one of the other guys starts to moan and stir from the kick, Batwoman glances and the glider lands solidly on his head, knocking him back out.

"Looks like this is under control," Batwoman replies, then turns to Charlotte. "Don't go anywhere. I'm calling the cops to take these guys away."

Busted. It probably wouldn't do to lie to Batwoman. Charlotte was pretty sure that just by the semi-familiar way her mentor spoke to her, she was well aware who it was without the mask and costume to tip her off. Oops.

"Okay. I'll be right here. Promise!"

She dutifully kept an eye on the guys that were conscious, though part of her wanted to bounce away. Not that it would do much. Batwoman wouldn't want to keep training a coward, she didn't think. Charlotte only hoped she'd forgive the part where Charlotte had been stealing so she could eat.
